Souvenirs for Co Workers

Do lots of people really buy gifts for their co-workers when they go on vacation? It's not something we do where I work.

We don't. I teach on a faculty of over 120 teachers; it simply wouldn't make sense.

I have gotten thank you gifts from people who went to Disney and asked me for advice, but that's about it.

With my job, people have to cover my work for me so I like to give a little thank you...

This. I know my mom buys small things for the dog-sitter and whoever else helped make the trip possible (neighbor that picks up the mail, etc) That also includes coworkers having to work double shifts while I am on vacation. It's just courteous. Never anything big, food makes good gifts. I'm partial to the bags of Mickey pasta.

One thing that was pretty popular that my husband bought for his co-workers were the ice cube trays. Some guys still talk about it to this day and that was many years ago.

You could always opt for some funky socks or ties-depending on the dress code in your workplace, etc.

When we went, my daughter was in Kindergarten and wanted to get something for all of her classmates. At first, all I could think of was dollar signs. We finally found a decorative tray that had chocolate coins in it. Luckily, there was one chocolate for each of her classmates (with a foil wrapper embossed with a different character), and her teacher was able to keep the decorative tray.

With that said, maybe you could find a set of something and divide it into threes.

Good luck and have fun.

P.S. Maybe while at Epcot, see if you can have some of the rare, imported beers shipped home.

Do lots of people really buy gifts for their co-workers when they go on vacation? It's not something we do where I work. I think it's great that you are thinking of them. I wouldn't spend much, if you know they like coffee a mug is nice or just some candy. Men always like food. :lmao:

I think it depends where you work. At my old job, I wouldn't have bothered. My department now is pretty small (only 4 of us). We are the Global Logistics/Customs Compliance group and arguably have some of the most stressful jobs in the company so we have all become pretty close! I have a friend in Payroll who gets along with her coworkers but is not on a buying gifts type of level with them.

I think food is the way to go. Not too expensive but definitely won't go to waste!

I don't know who starts all these, to me, stupid traditions....for sure, I've never done the worker souvenir gift... Believe the wife gas on occasion and I called her out on it.... What's the point, you're not related to them and they don't really care... So, to each their own!

I am thinking of Disney trading pins. Thinking I will buy a starter set and then trade for pins for each of them. This way, I have the experience of pin trading and the CM interaction and can look for pins that they may like.

Easy peasy----Micky wine bottle stoppers. I buy them every time we go and I need gifts for someone. Around $10 and classically Disney and very tasteful! Enjoy your trip and your responses!!!!!

Hi all! So far I've posted two topics asking for advice and received ZERO responses so hopefully third time is a charm lol.

I'm 26 years old and female, and my department consists of all men: 45, 49, and 28. I wanted to bring them back something cute/funny from Disney. 28 y/o is easy because he's a Star Wars fan so I have plenty to choose from, but the other two I'm not sure.

What kind of stuff do you guys suggest? I don't want to go too much more than $30. It doesn't necessarily have to be something super useful, just something funny and cute because we're all very close (but apparently not close enough for me to have any good ideas! LOL!)

I'd love to hear what you guys think, or maybe any fun things you've seen in the shops or picked up for friends and family of your own.

Thanks!!

$30 total or $30 on each of them? If it's $30 total, I'd go with what you know they like...a thought out gift is always nice. :) Ex: Beer drinkers, go with something from Epcot, bottle opener.. Coffee drinkers, you can get them a coffee mug, or a travel coffee mug. Epcot has the best, unique gifts from the different countries. If you know their nationality, you can get from 1 of the countries. We are 1/2 Arabic and I saw a shirt with a Camel on it that said "Habibi", sweety in Arabic from one of the little Morrocan shops. My brother would have loved it and worn it! Next time, I'm getting it!

It's not a "tradition"; it's just something I want to do because I consider them friends. I don't care whether or not they do the same for me.

Something small for their desk. Letter opener Etc

How did I forget this?

Be patient with me on this one.

Get each of them a Mickey Mouse muffin tray, like this one: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...SPYUZLIDJS70AHjmYDoCQ&ved=0CG0Q9QEwDA&dur=457

You can find them in all the stores at WDW. Sorry, I forget how much they cost and don't know whether or not they'll fit your budget. (But get yourself at least one, regardless :) )

I know your friends are unlikely to all love making muffins. But they turn out to be the world's BEST ice cube trays!!! The cubes are so large that they really keep your drink COLD!!

28 y/o is easy because he's a Star Wars fan so I have plenty to choose from

In the gift shop at Star Tours they have awesome shot glasses that say Star Wars and they look like miniature Kantina glasses...

For the older guys, do they golf? You can buy a set of golf balls. Or shot glasses, coffee mugs, hat, bottle opener.

It's VERY nice of you to buy coworkers something!

The other thing you can do, is buy YOURSELF souvenirs, and take them out and buy them a round of drinks and brag about your trip! :lmao:

There are Disney owned shops off site that sell Disney Pins in bulk, you can get the cheap ones there and use them to trade. They are official Disney Pins so you are not doing anything wrong.

I brought back pens for my co workers from out last trip and I have also done key chains (Just little Mickey heads). I always bring back something small for everyone. It's a very nice gesture and I know my co workers appreciate it.
DD5 also brought back the gold coins for her class! That was a wonderful idea and everyone loved it. We have also brought back the Mickey straws for the class which was a big hit.

since I am a teacher, and I work with some of the best ladies I know it should be easy. School supplies (Disney Style):banana:
