Souvenir Buying... What Are Your Automatic Must-Purchases / Plans?

I always get a shirt, either a year shirt or special event or new location visit. In feburary it was a bowling shirt from Splitsville. Also I am always on the lookout for another towel. I have towels from many trips including Disney, some that are now not available ( the disney friends at the pool are envious of my typhoon lagoon towel). THen also if there is a special event or a new hotel visit I get the pin. Like this year will be ASMo with a 2015 MNSSHp.

Yes, I love the limited edition items or stuff that in general aren't available any more. That's why I too love the dated items!

I think Towels are a great item. I'd get one from every attraction if I could afford to!
I need to price them. Perhaps I will get one special one for myself if I can find one with either Tink, or Merida, Or Tiana, or The Seven Dwarfs or Cheshire Cat, or Alice. (*_*)

SEVEN DWARFS freak.

Don't let me find something like this with all of the dwarfs. It will be going home with me!

(same may go for Tiana, Merida, Tinkerbell, and Chesire Cat... but DEFINITELY for the Dwarfs!)

Every trip, I get a mask from Italy in Epcot. It turned into me collecting masks from elsewhere too, so I have one from Morocco (the actual country lol) and New Orleans.

This trip, I also 100% NEED the ghost portrait souvenir from Memento Mori. A co worker came back in april with one and it looks fantastic.

IvyWinter.... How did you get that Photo with Piglet, btw. I presume you guys are in Crystal Palace and it looks EMPTY.
Please share how you managed that!?

Yes it was Crystal Palace, and it was during October, back in 2013. I think we just had an early enough ADR (around park opening, maybe 30 min after?) and it was super quiet the weekend i went! It was a very last minute, quick 3 day trip. And yeah, we got plenty of character time! It was my first character dining experience, actually. that photo with Piglet is my favorite photo at Disney ever!

Very nice. I have a 9:55 Ressie in October. That's kind of late. But I need it late because I know I will be up VERY late with EMH the night before. Great pic. Thanks for sharing. Maybe Piglet (et. al) will sit down with me anyway since I am going SOLO! (*_*)

I keep a running list. Pretty sad. LOL

For my next trip:
Popcorn buckets - hoping for Cinderella Carriage still, Vampire Mickey
Minnie Halloween Car Topper
Halloween Lanyard
Food and Wine Festival bottle of Chardonny if they have it
Bottle of Fairytale Cuvee Champagne if they have it at the F&W Festival
F&W Festival apron if they have them
F&W Festival tray
Halloween Treat bags - one per land
Basin Kitchen Soap - the one that takes onion smells off your hands
Candy with Halloween flair like last years gummies in a Goofy tin
Various Disney pins - I have 9 so far on my list
Something Anime for my daughter from the Japan store
New chopsticks from the japan store (I broke one from a set so if they have that set, I'll get that one)

I know I'll be adding more later as I think of it.

We love looking at Disney stuff in the shops, I think we check nearly every shop on property (except for the resort shops, don't make it to all of those.) We have an awful lot of Disney things in our home. We're out of space for mugs, have way too many t-shirts & sweatshirts. If DW spies a piece of jewelry she likes we'll get that. I used to buy watches but thanks to the iPhone I seldom wear watches any longer. We like the high end art, but again, we're out of wall space! Next trip we're getting the Food & Wine glasses for AP holders, and probably a Christmas ornament or two. Oh, and there will be a couple of souvenir glasses from Trader Sam's. :earsboy:

we were just 3 adults, so that too may be why they hung around a little with us. Hopefully you have a great experience with them!

We always spend too much on buying cute Disney stuff during our trips.

This year I plan to buy:
Ornaments
Lanyard
Possibly a Dooney and Bourke if I like the patterns in stock
Haunted Mansion Jim Shore of the organ playing ghost
A new set of ears
Antennae topper (My DH's work car finally has an antennae - our personal cars don't have them)
Year dated picture frame

We will also probably get:
A shirt or two
A mug

Last year was my first trip since I was 15. We went a bit nuts. DH has a ban on stuffies (we don't have kids) but I saw one with Sully holding Mike and had to have it and he got sucked in by a small Yeti.

This next trip will involve the usual family gifts, plus any Star Wars figurines that DH wants for his collection. I would like a good size mug and a pendant from somewhere in World Pavilion. We will get a Christmas ornament and probably a t-shirt each. I do like pins (not trading), and if I can find a Jose Carioca one... I am on it!

I usually just buy magnets and maybe a small Mickey kitchenware item (like potholders).

My last trip I bought more than I usually do because I left my sons and husband behind - it was a trip with just my daughters and older DD's fiance. Got a little carried away in Mousegears and at the TOT gift shop!

Next trip my souvenir list is limited to getting a "2015" magnet and something with the Muppets on it. :)

oh yeah, I totally forgot, I do magnets too! I like to get resort specific ones, for everywhere I've stayed!

Let's see...

We try to go twice a year and I alternate - one trip I will buy a D&B bag, the next a Vera Bradley. This trip (on FRIDAY! SO EXCITED! CAN'T WAIT!) is a D&B trip! LOL

We also "theme" our trips - this one is "girls only" (just our daughter and I, daddy has to stay home and work) so we purchase things related to our theme. Our easiest theme to shop for was in 2012 when we did a HUGE "Pirates" themed trip!

Aside from that stuff...

First order of business is to hit DTD/Disney Springs and get a custom T-shirt for every member of the party made. We will wear our shirts at least one day on the trip, usually twice if I decide to do laundry LOL It's so much fun to pick a design and decide on what the wording will be, etc.

Pressed pennies. Always. We wind up with duplicates, but that's OK because we give them out to little kiddos we meet and spread around a bit of Magic!

Pins - we always have a running list of pins we want to add to the collection. This time, with both MNSSHP *and* Food & Wine we have to make sure we get those pins as well! If we happen to purchase a duplicate or two on a trip, we bring those back and give them away to little kids as well. It's so much fun to see their eyes light up, and when you explain how pin trading works... they get even more excited!

Postcards & thimbles - my Mom used to collect postcards from everywhere we went, so I have continued her collection. And the thimbles are mine; I love them because they are the ultimate "pocket" collectible; inexpensive, and often very colorful little reminders of past adventures! I have a wall of display cases in my sewing room, and I smile just looking at them!

We always get at least once special item from the Resort we stay at - for example, last time we stayed at POFQ, the same ornate, intricate masks that they sell in Italy were being displayed at the POFQ shop during Mardi Gras. We also have purchased prints from artists of the Resorts, or picture frames, ornaments, etc. It really just depends on what strikes our fancy, but there is always at last one Resort item to bring home!

At Epcot/World Showcase, we always have a shopping list; this trip I have several people I want to get personalized fans for at Japan, and Pick A Pearl too, and I need another little enameled pill box from China. Bead Trader is on the list, and in Mexico I love to look at the jewelry! France is macaroons - and Germany is caramel, of course! Morocco is amazing - I always find wonderful little trinkets to take home to friends and family there, and BabyBunny and I love to get matching Henna tattoos there too!

With Food & Wine going on, I can't wait to see what else there will be!

Other than all that... (LOL as if it isn't enough!) we each have a favorite character, and we will try to find something unique or different related to that character that we haven't seen before.

This trip, we are also planning on getting customized TOMS at Sammy Duvals at DTD/DS. They have artists who hand-paint them with the Disney theme of your choice! I'm SUPER excited about that! :)

But my most precious souvenirs really are the pictures. We always get Memory Maker/Photo Pass, and I love it because most of my life I have been on the other side of the camera - now I finally get to be in the picture with everyone else! I have thousands and thousands of pictures of our trips, and I never tire of looking at them... they truly are our memories of the trip.

We arrive Friday around noon, local time - I'll be the one shopping with the big ol' smile on my face!

Can't wait to get my wood (or wood-look) dated frame!

I may have to pick up that Basin soap you're talking about!

I too love browsing in every Disney Shop. That is even part of my first day Main Street ritual. I do Main Street very slowly (after doing the Disney Railroad train) then veer right and head off to Tomorrowland!

I'm trying to limit ride gift shops to Pressed Coins or a magnet at the most! (*_*)
