Souvenir Buying... What Are Your Automatic Must-Purchases / Plans?

I haven't been in 17 years, but when I get there in March I'll probably stick to the basics:

Christmas ornament
key chain
magnet
t-shirt
mug

Other than those items, I plan to spend my money on cupcakes. LOL.

15 years for for me. Can't wait.

I love browsing the Japan pavilion. I bought a sake set there last time.
I think this time I'm going to buy a frame because it's the first time my whole family is going in a long time.
Also something from the resort.
And maybe another sake set, because someone broke one of the cups:rolleyes1

Enjoy!

For me it is definitely Christmas ornaments. It doesn't fail, when we go to DTD I have to go into the Christmas shop there (my favorite store) and buy ornaments for our Christmas tree (not that we don't already have enough) and any other decorations that appeal to me. It's funny, once we get to DTD, DH tells our girls (who are 14 and 12) to go ahead and walk around the other stores and to meet us in the World of Disney at a certain time because he knows that I will be in the Christmas store for a while and the girls don't really care for it :goodvibes. The other purchase that DH and I both buy are pins to add to our pin collection. We like to buy pins that are themed (i.e. all the different resorts, attractions, special occasions, etc.) or just really cool looking ones. The other purchases that I know I am going to buy on our upcoming trip is a new Dooney and Burke purse and a Alex and Ani bracelet. I have been eyeing one of the new Dooney and Burke patterns that came out a few months ago and I told DH that when we are there, I was going to purchase it :thumbsup2. As for the Alex and Ani bracelet, I buy one each time we go and right now I am collecting all of the different park icon bracelets....this time I will be purchasing the Animal Kingdom bracelet.

I have never seen magnets in a case of four or more, that doesn't mean they don't exist. Someone else may know better.

There are always the Pressed Pennies for 51 cents each, unless you think that's too cheap or something they would throw in a drawer and eventually lose/throw away. I tape my Pennies to the refrigerator, but you can have small magnet glued to your pennies to make them magnets as well. I'm sure you can find them at an arts and craft store (the magnets). Looks like Walmart has them (link below).

Welcome to the adult size ears. How old are you??

Anyway, have fun!

That may be a good idea! I was thinking magnets because our cube overhead bins have steel doors, perfect for magnet displays.

I'm 26, returning after a long hiatus. I think I may have been 11 or 12 the last time I was there! So much has changed, and I'm very excited to see it all!

Hello Fellow Disney Nerds!:

Just wondering about the habits of other people. What are your Auto Musts with regard to souvenirs for your trip? Your Automatic Purchases sight unseen that you know you always pick up when you go to WDW.

I am one of those people who likes to watch the Disney Haul Videos on You Tube to see what people purchased and how much it costs. It was via those videos that I found out about the Disney Outlet Store (you can catch a bus from DTD that will take you there. There are two of them). I am not sure if I am going or not - but at least I have notes on how to get there. It's my understanding that the prices are considerably less than at the parks.

(*_*)

What bus do you take?

You go to DTD and catch the LYNX BUS NUMBERS 8 or 42. I'M about 85 percent sure that I will make the time to make the visit. The cost is 2 dollars each way. If you can afford it you can just hop in a cab. But I'd rather just spend the two dollars. That extra money could be spent on the souvenirs!

Cool. I think the Pressed Pennies are the best souvenir value. I have polished my pennies and even gotten a collection of pennies that were minted before 1982 (prime pennies without zine). Polished first by letting them set in ketchup and then drying them and taking an eraser to them. They come out bright and sparkling! lol. I am ready! lol. Some of those dies limited edition designs and you wont see them the next year - so I think you just can't beat the value. Go get those magnets! I think I'm going to get them too!

Have fun.

Thanx! my bff and I were just wondering how to get there last night

We go to WDW so often I rarely buy a souvenir but I have to say this trip I'm planning to buy quite a few of the F&W 20th Anniversary merch as well as some of the Adventureland themed kitchenware.

Thinking I need a new hoodie with the date :earsgirl: Plus we always get an ornament with the date. The 2010 one broke coming back the last time we were there :worried: they even wrapped it for us, I was bummed. A new magnet, maybe one from each park. Some kind of coffee mug. DH has the grumpy one from the beginning of this thread. And now maybe a picture frame since that seems popular and we are going to splurge on memory maker. So excited because we were supposed to go in August and had to reschedule to February/March. It's getting closer:jumping3:

I too want a magnet from all four parks but I may just settle for a WDW 2015 magnet (if avail). I'm concerned about all of my "little" purchases adding up to mountainous spending. Things add up quickly.

I have read that it can take up to 2 hours to get there via bus because it is a locals route. You might check with the transportation board, which is probably where I read it a few years ago.

If this is the case, anyone have any idea how much the cab ride would cost?

I am going to check with Lynx. What local route in any city takes 2 hours (one way) - perhaps one hour. But I will check.

UPDATE:
There are two outlet stores - one on Vineland and the other on International.
The Vineland route is closer.
The bus to catch is the number 50 bus and transfer to the 8 Bus and the total travel time is 53 minutes. That does indeed amount to about 2 hours round trip.

Their number at LYNX is 407-841-5969.
