Souvenir Buying... What Are Your Automatic Must-Purchases / Plans?

I've been following along on this thread for a while. I've been a bit embarrassed to admit my purchase because they are over priced bit I can't seem to resist. It is the Disney Park Collector mini figures. They come 3 to a pack. You don't know which characters you are getting. There are something like 16 different series and there are 18 figures in each series. I think they are about $8/package but they usually have a special buy 3 for $15. You could easily go broke buying these silly little things.:teeth:

I've seen those before. I myself love the Pressed Pennies. You like what you like. Who care's what others think. I think they're cute! And that's what Disney wants you to do... have all of those little purchases add up because there are so many for you to choose from and become addicted to.

Happy Disney Spending! :flower1:

I really want a Chip cup and a dinglehopper. I keep going back and forth on the dinglehopper because what will I do with it, but it's just so clever.

I'm a spoon collector. Most places have stopped carrying them but I will look at WDW, one that is dated with the year is what I'll be looking for. I think I want some sort of a key chain this time too. I don't buy much for myself. My DH will buy nothing. My boys will choose some things. They are really into Legos now so I'm sure some things from there. My youngest will need a stuffed animal of some sort.

Popcorn Buckets.. All of them..
When at Disneyland last year we had 6 suitcases filled to the max...
This time we will be sending packages back home to Australia through USPS.

Baseballs
Pop vinyls and minis
Ride t-shirts
Anything star wars related

I liked the idea of pressed pennies however after a few months of bringing the Disneyland ones home they have all completely faded... is this the same as Disneyworld ones?

You are not alone! My husband and kids always get these--enough to each open one pack a night while we're on the trip, and usually one more set of three packs at the airport store on the way home. It's insane. We have a little shelf thing that was originally a type-setter's drawer that has compartments that are just big enough for the tallest of the minifigures (actually if it is a star wars guy with a lightsaber it won't fit) and it is completely full already. But we'll buy more next trip.

We used to buy keychains back when they had those acrylic ones that were mostly square. We used those, and still have some that are being used now. And we went through a magnet stage that ended when we got a stainless steel fridg.

What do you mean by "faded?"
Can not see the image anymore. Have kept them in the 60th Anniversary collector folder. Wondering if heat may have played a part in making them fade.

I might be weird but nothing... DW and I don't buy souvenirs, every once and a while we will buy a t-shirt that we really like.

Weird. I have never heard of that happening. I have pressed pennies that are 30+ years old and they still look fine.

Yes, DH and I were discussing at dinner how it could fade. I guess it is possible though. As for the ride t shirts, I have one from the first year Disney Quest was open. The shirt was about one of the attractions and it said "Kick some alien butt". It did not go over well at school, though it was clearly a Disney shirt.

Pandora charm
Pin from our resort
dated Christmas ornament
Popcorn bucket

This year's wish list includes a pick a pearl from Japan and we plan on getting a Mickey pants ice cream while we wait for fireworks.

We are not big souvenir people. Every trip I look for a Disney Parks exclusive Tervis. I will buy any of those that I do not have. I also buy an ornament each trip. Those are my only two must haves.

I do have to pick up Laila perfume in Norway if I am out. I also get the year stamped Alex and Ani bracelet. This year I noticed they go on a huge clearance in January on the Parks site. This time I skipped buying it and will try to snag it in January.

I'm not much of a souvenir shopper but I've already decided on the refillable mugs for the kids since we're spending a lot of time at the resort pools next summer. Maybe a popcorn bucket, if they're still offering the refills, because we could use that at home. I do love the attraction photos and hope that Attractions+ is available for purchase when we go. Otherwise I might get Photopass, even though we don't do character meals/meets.

The kids get to buy what they want with their own money. It's been stuffed animals in the past and DD bought a bracelet in AK. I tried to talk my middle DS out of a black and white Mickey he saw at DHS. I thought it was babyish for a 9yr old. Later in the week he saw it in MK and his face just lit up. Two yrs later he still loves it. The kid knows what he wants so I don't do that, anymore!

I have a few must haves:

Christmas ornament - the fancy, Mickey head style
Mug - love me a great coffee mug
Pandora - this is a new one for me, but next trip a park exclusive is on my list
Ears - the headband style

Definitely pressed pennies as we wander around as well.

We usually go 2 - 3 times per year and when we fly we attempt to go in carry-ons only even when flying SW (although sometimes on our winter trips I will check 1 duffle that we all share). This really cuts down on the amount of souvineers we have room to buy and bring home. We usually resort hop from 1 DVC resort to another from trip to trip so DH likes to collect a resort T-shirt from each new resort we try - but if it's a repeat resort he skips the shirt. We also always get a resort specific pin for new resorts and a new year date pin each year. Other pins we collect are just random if we see ones we really like but we try to keep it in moderation. We do the occasional pressed penny when we stumble on new machines. Last year on 1 of our trips I bought a new insulated coffee cup to replace one that I had dropped & broken. DS bought a shirt & a hoodie on our January trip but then nothing on our June trip. In fact I think nobody bought anything on our June trip.

We just don't go hog wild for spending money on souvineers any more. Years ago we used to each buy shirts & throws & duffles & stuff but we just can't keep up with all the expense - especially if we were to do that on every trip. It's just not necessary any more at this point. I WOULD like a new watch and I keep looking but the prices for the ones I like always turn me off so I keep moving. If I eventually find one that I really, reallllllly like and I'm certain I love it then I'll buy it. I never got started in with the Alex & Ani stuff or regular buying of charms or the expensive purses. We never buy anything on our first few days - we always take our time looking everywhere all week & don't make snap decisions at the first thing we see & we decide if there's something we want bad enough then we go back for it on our last day. If we didn't go so often & it was a rare once in a lifetime trip then I'm sure we'd spend more.

Dooney and Bourke purse or wristlet

More $$ but something I will keep and use forever

I love going to WDW and bringing nothing back but good memories and digital photos.
