I got a A boarding pass for tomorrow ....

I think that is a good thing ...right...

Now when I get there tomorrow what do I do?
where do I go?
Never been to PHL...

Snagged As for our trip tomorrow, too!!! Get to the airport early and relax. Even with the A BPs you really do NOT have to line up. I never do.

Southwest now boards in two terminals at PHL, I think they're D and E. But you'll need to go to the main terminal for Southwest (it's marked outside) to check the monitors to see where your flight leaves from. You also need to go to the main terminal to check any luggage.

When you get to the gate you'll see entrances for pre-board, A, B, and C. Usually people start lining up about an hour beforehand, but it's really your choice whether you want to wait until closer to boarding time or not. They only issue something like 40 A boarding passes and 40 B boarding passes, so there should be plenty of good seats available for you. And since people are checking more luggage now, there shouldn't be a problem with on-board storage.

how is the boarding pass A, B, C determined

You can check in on line 24 hours prior to your flight time. When you check in either on line or at the airport you are given a boarding pass, it will be either an A, B or C. People who check in ahead of time on line or early at the airport generally can get an A boarding pass. Pre-boarding goes first, this is generally families with children under 4 ( I think) or people with disabilities, then they have the A boarding pass people get on, then the B and then the C.
Sometimes these people line up at the gate at least an hour before the flight time...I personally have not done that, we have always gotten a A boarding pass and have gotten a seat we liked with no problem.

I'm not a flying expert....since I really only fly a couple times per year for vacations or once in a while for business....but, here's my take.

Most of the time...I just try to get as close to the front of the plane as possible. The reason for this is that when you arrive at your destination, the closer to the front of the plane you are...the quicker you will get off the plane since the plane usually unloads starting with the passengers closest to the front all the way to the back.

Of course...it's not really that big of a difference....maybe 10 to 15 minutes.
