Southwest Youth Fare Question

Hi all, next May we're planning a trip. I've noticed that there's noplace on the SWA web site to book a youth fare. My daughter will be 7 at the time, will we need to book over the phone instead of the web? Also, will this eliminate the possibility of online checkin? Thanks

Forget about the youth fare. It's a small discount off the full fare ticket but is more expensive than the discounted fare most of us book. Unless you're flying around a holiday and are paying close to full fare you won't be using it.

Call and get the youth rate so you can be sure you're better off booking the internet fare for your 7 year old.

Thanks, I appreciate your help. I'm not overly worried about the fare, rather my big concern is ease of check-in, etc. The fares are cheap enough. Just as long as they don't require an ID or anything from my 7 year old since she is flying on a regular ticket.

We got a youth fare once for the kids. A whole $6 savings.

You can't get your BP online if you're using a youth fare. I believe SW reserves the right to request proof of age when you checkin.

I think we saved a whopping $10 on youth fares this past Feb. I couldn't print out boarding passes either. We definately won't be using youth fares anymore! Being able to print boarding passes from the resort for return trip is well worth paying the extra money!!!!! Watch for Ding fares, they have been really great the last couple of weeks. I hope that trend holds for our schedule. We are waiting for the schedules to be released for the rest of Dec.
