Southwest - where to sit?

We're six, with a ten year old (grandson). I think we'll end up in the front just so we can get to baggage claim a bit quicker.

You can get down to baggage claim as fast as you want and you'll still wait a good 10 minutes or more for the bags to show up. MCO is not known for speedy offloading of bags.

Have you ever been to PHL? MCO is lightyears faster and that isn't saying much :lmao:

Yup, lots of times, I used to live in Philly.

Now my home airport is PWM, where they have one luggage crew. After they offload the bags, the same crew loads the plane back up with the outgoing passengers' bags. When they have that plane all buttoned up, then they bring the just-offloaded bags to the terminal.

I've never waited less than 25 minutes for a checked bag after arriving at PWM baggage claim, and it's a 3-minute walk down to baggage claim from our single, 10-gate terminal.

We shoot for around row 18 as well, for many of the reasons puffkin describes but also because we often get to watch our luggage get loaded onto the plane. That just makes me happy, for some reason.
