Could someone please explain how this works and if there are extra charges. I wonder if you really fly that cheap.

The only extra charges on the published price are taxes. Then once you purchase, you can change or cancel your flight for no charge. If you change to a more expensive flight you have to pay the difference. If you change to a less expensive flight, or cancel your flight, you get Southwest credits for the difference, which have to be used within a year.

In my personal experience, I have so far found Southwest to be cheapest (from LA to MCO), especially when you factor in free bags. Plus I love that you can change your flight and if the price goes down you can get credits. I used to always fly United but I think I'm pretty much converted.

Wanna Get Away fares (and all SWA tickets) also include up to two checked bags per person for no extra charge.

An optional charge is $10 per person each way to get Early Bird Check In service. That will automatically check you in for your flight and get your boarding number (SWA does not have assigned seats) 36 hours before your scheduled departure. If you choose not to pay for EBCI you will need to go online and check yourself in starting at 24 hours before your scheduled departure.

Other than that, and the assorted taxes and fees that all airlines have to pass along, there should be no additional charges.

Wanna Get Away Fares are not refundable and are usually the cheapest. Anytime and Business Select fares are refundable along with some other perks. All fares allow you to fly 2 bags for free within weight per ticket.

We love SWA and love not having "extra" charges for everything when we fly.

They are not refundable in that you can't get cash back. If you have to cancel you have until the date of original purchase to use every penny you paid toward any other flight you want to book, it is a credit. That does apply to the Wanna Get Away fares. So if you plan to travel then you can't lose with those fares.

LOVE Southwest!!!
