Flights for our trip April 30 - May 8, 2015 just opened up yesterday. Flying from Buffalo to Orlando, and on the Thursday we leave they had the perfect direct flight time, depart at 5:30am land at 8:00am. Perfect. However in less than 24 hours the Wanna Get Away price says it's sold out!? In less than 24 hours? I have flown Southwest numerous times over the years and have never seen this before. For such an early morning flight, out of Buffalo, during a non-busy time, how can they sell out that quick? Has this happened to anyone else and do they often open the price back up as time goes on? I can't see too many people buying tickets at $400+ for the Business Select seats.

If you think it's the perfect flight, probably enough other passengers from the Buffalo area did as well.

Southwest may open more WGA fares, but not necessarily at the same rate you liked.

Woah!
I just checked our flights (we booked yesterday) and our morning flight (6:35 am) is also sold out !

Maybe they release more wanna get away fares after a while??? :confused3

I'm also from Buffalo and have noticed a greater amount of folks from southern Ontario flying in and out of Buffalo for the convenience. WDW sees a large number of Canadian visitors and for those close enough to fly out of Buffalo, it means they can fly direct to Orlando, no customs, and they can use RAC on the way back. I'd suspect that not only are us Buffalonians jumping on these flights, but Canadians as well.

Sure, only a certain unknown number of seats are released for Wanna Get Away fares. Others found the times and fare attractive and pounced on them. Southwest may or may not release more WGA fares for the flight, depending on how well it continues to sell.

I was on at 6:00am and once they opened the flights I watched as the fares disappeared with a couple of hours! These were out of NH. I couldn't believe how expensive they were. The prices were half as much out of Providence but I didn't find that out til after I booked on JetBlue.

I booked yesterday at 6:00 am and just checked the first flight out that morning is already sold out of WGA fares. (May 22 out of ISP)

We never book the first flight out (I am not a morning person) did it once never again - haha

When I booked last August flights they opened as sold out and it took a few days if I remember for them to open up. Keep stalking the SW site, that is the best advice.

Crazy how fast those SW flights fill up, our Canadian friends have discovered SW and between the Buffalo area folks who like to travel and those from CA, we really don't have enough discount flights to and from MCO anymore! I forgot to go back and book my 25th Anniversary flights last night, when I got on this AM the prices were already up....Lesson to me to be faster!

SW is only releasing a few seats at a time, so it is not sold out, just that they have not released the seats. Part of a marketing strategy to increase their per seat average.

This poster is correct! The BNIA just rolled out a huge campaign targeting Canadians. They did a story about it on the news in CA and also have taken out Billboards in the Toronto area with the caption "Buffa low"

First the Galleria Mall, now our airport, when will it end!

I don't blame them though, it really is much cheaper for them to come here and spend money on, well everything really. This is a good piece of information to remember in the future. I will have to keep stalking the SW website and see if more tickets become available. If not, a different flight or leaving a day before or after originally planned may also be an option. It could really save us hundreds of $$$.

I'm here to tell you to keep watching the flights and change to the cheaper flights if they show.

I booked around 8:30 yesterday morning. Slim pickings and I had to move dates around and my purchases wiped out my points account.

This morning I was up early and checked, just in case.....low and behold a bunch of WGA fares were added back and I was able to change my flights to WGA fares. Saved me about 37,000 points! If I booked on cash - the change this morning would have been $400 lower!

So, keep checking. Flying SW often, I check a few times a week for all our upcoming flights. I am always catching something lower or better. (and yes, even during prime school vacation weeks)

I was right there with you.:thumbsup2 I was looking at opening prices of $187 and $203 MHT-MCO. I then checked PVD and it was $101 each way for the same dates with early AM flight and early evening return. It is so worth the drive and park/fly hotel, saved over $600 for the three of us.:goodvibes

I booked late last night @ $129 each leg from Philadelphia to Orlando. After reading this post, I just checked - departing Philadelphia is up to $223.00 and departing Orlando is now $188.00.

I almost didn't book last night!!!! Glad I did.

LOL - I live minutes from the Fashion Outlets. With the new expansion, traffic is gridlocked on the weekends in my area. But we must be grateful to the Canadians for their patronage - without it, we wouldn't have seen the expansion at the outlet mall, Galleria, or even the addition of flights that have been added in and out of Buffalo!

If you don't get cheap flights immediately, keep checking. We find the prices on SW drop substantially about 60-90 days before departure and then start to climb again.

Yup, so so true. It's crazy how much stuff is expanding here. I live minutes away from the McKinley Mall and it's crazy how much more crowded that has become over the last year alone.

I booked the same deal yesterday for 5/13-20. $129 each leg. They are still the same price today.
