Southwest Visa- when do the 50,000 points show up?

Last month I applied and received the Southwest Rapid Rewards card with the 50,000 points after you spend $2,000. So, I charged our Annual Passes (exceeding the $2,000 required to spend before the points are awarded) and just got our first monthly statement and the points aren't there. I called customer service and was told it can take 4-6 weeks for the points to show up.

I am really anxious now as the spring fares are being released on 10/27 and I was hoping to book April flights with the points.

Any ideas on what I need to do to get the points into my account asap? Didn't get too far with the phone rep.

This is incorrect. You don't have to pay the entire balance to get the points. I was told it sometimes takes 2 cycles for the points to show up. It sucks---I am dealing with the same thing.

They want your money and interest. It is beneficial to them if you carry a balance.

My friend just signed up for this. She charged the required amount (i can't remember if $2k or $2500) within her first statement cycle. So statement #1 she had the $2k or whatever balance, she paid it. I don't know if paid it in full, I wouldn't think you'd have to. Then statement #2 she had her SW points.

I did the refer a friend thing for her where I got 5,000 bonus miles and mine showed up as soon as she was issued the card.

Shoot. I was hoping they'd be applied to your account as soon as you paid the bill. We're getting our bill sometime here within the next week with our $2000 on it. Our trip is in February and I wanted to get our flights booked ASAP before fares went up too much.

can you see your statement online? if so,when did it close out? in my past experience I had the points at close of the statement AFTER I hit the spend point.... so if I hit it on Spet. 15,and it closed on Sept. 30, I would see them on Oct. 1,

You can see your SWA cc statement by logging into Chase.com That is who the credit card is run by. Usually the statement closing date is 30 days after you open the acct.

For me I paid my acct in full and in 7 -10 days the 50K points showed up. Which is how it will run every month after that. Once the statement closes I get an email from SWA saying XXXX points have been added to your SWA RR acct.

DH checked the Chase account and it says it transferred 52,000 points to Southwest TODAY. Not sure how long the lag is between that happening and the points showing on our SW account, but I'm hoping I'll see something the first part of the week.

We actually haven't gotten the statement yet that has our $2000 charge on it. I had DH pay it online yesterday in hopes that it would speed up the process.

It's not the statement you spend the money within; it's the next one.

My friend got the 50k points and they showed up about 15 days after his first statement after he spent the money needed, but I got the 25k and they showed up not when I spent the money, but on the next statement after that one.

UPDATE!

Paid $2,000 on our Disney vacation approx 3 weeks ago -- the 2nd month we've had our SW 50,000 points card. Paid off the bill on October 17th, prior to even receiving our paper statement for the month. Our 50,000 points were on our account TODAY!! Just booked our flights.

So MUCH quicker than others had stated on this thread. So relieved to have our flights booked!

I think ours transferred the 17th or 18th? So it was just 2 business days after that that we were able to see & use them. Good luck!
