Southwest opened travel last week for June. Since opening, Sunday June 5 all direct AM flights from Philly to Orlando have been either sold out or unavailable. Does anybody know why?
I was looking for a direct AM flight, none are available at the wanna get away listing. Even the ones with layovers are unavailable except one which is double the normal flight
That's odd. We're flying the same day, but from Chicago. I booked early in the morning the day the flights opened up. I've noticed that the prices of the flight we picked are higher now, but still available.
EDIT: Just did a quick comparison. Philly has 11 flights per day to Orlando and Chicago has 20, so that might explain why there are still WGA seats available from Chicago.
Can't speak to other cities but I know here in Buffalo, the nonstop flights to MCO on Southwest often sell out on the day they are released. Since many people book WDW trips so far in advance, they already know their dates and therefore can take advantage of the low nonstop fares when they are released. Might be a factor in other cities as well.
FWIW, the flights with layovers out of MSP for June "sold out" the first day, too. And stayed that way until yesterday...when they reappeared, at a much cheaper price. Just keep your eyes on them. (No non stops from here in June, it appears.)
