southwest ticket prices for December Wait or purchase????

I have downloaded it--about 2 weeks ago--and I don't understand it. When I click on it to book a flight it just takes me to the SW website. Are special offers supposed to just pop up? How often do they do that?

Install the program. Set up your preferences.

If the computer's on when you get a fare, you'll hear a 'ding' noise like the sound when you hit the flight attendant button on the plane. The icon in the system tray will look like this:

The little envelope will only be on the plane's wing if you have a fare.

Click it and this will open up with whatever your Ding fare info is:

Click the link and you'll get a Southwest.com page, which will have all the fare info on it, like this one:

And that's Ding!

As far as the inconvenience of driving to Midway, I live near the Wisconsin border and it's worth it for me. Don't forget the parking is cheaper too.
As far as the fares, they may be slightly higher because it's a popular time. I'd be shocked if they were as high as United.

I just booked PVD to MCO for Christmas week, and the price for one way on Dec. 28th was more than I usually pay roundtrip ($234/pp). I really had a hard time justifying that price, but figured I'd better jump on it now just in case they went any higher. I looked on travelocity, and other airlines didn't seem to be much better, plus I really prefer Southwest, as I know my flight times won't change with them. Here's hoping for better fares on the way back when the schedule for the rest of January is released!
