Southwest/Taxi Questions

I have two questions.

1) I just rebooked my Southwest flight home and got a $45 credit per person. I know I have to use the credit on the person the flight was booked for. I'm confused on the 12 month rule. Do you have to fly within 12 months of the original booking day or just apply the credit to a purchase within that 12 months. Could I book before but actually take the flight after that original 12 months?

2) Is there reliable cab service that DIS'ers use? We are going in February and have a 7:30 am Chef Mickey reservation and we are staying at POFQ. Is a taxi the only and/or quickest way to get there? Who do I call to arrange and how far in advance would you recommend?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Mears is the only cab company allowed to pick up at WDW resorts. Just ask at the front desk on your way out and they'll call one up for you. It shouldn't take more than 5 minutes. I would plan on leaving the resort just before 7:00. It should cost around $17, plus tip.

You could also take the bus. You should be at the bus stop by 6:30. If you tell the bus driver that you're going to Chef Mickey's, he may be able to drop you off there. If not, you'll be dropped off at MK and walk to the contemporary.

As to question 1, you must complete your travel within 12 months of the original booking date in order to use a credit.

Thanks for the replies, definitely thinking cab for the extra 30 minutes. Guess I'll just have to plan a bounce back to use the credit. I knew the flights would go down bc I had been watching the trend but after two consistent days of it rising, he insisted I book.

Oh well, thanks!
