Southwest stressing!

Another question about pre-boarding. I read back on page one or two that people with disabilities can board early. Can my DBF board with me, I'm definitely going to need him to help me transfer into my seat, but will they send him back out or can he stay with me until the other passengers board?

Thanks

If you are disabled and need your companion to help w/ boarding, the companion can board with you and stay on the plane (providing he is ticketed, of course. No one without a ticket is getting past the gate. An assistance pass can get an unticketed helper to the gate area, but no further.)

Open seating means just that. You board and select your seats.
It sometimes happens that people get separated this way. The FA's cannot make someone change, but, usually there are enough people who will swap.
The trick here is to get to the airport early and get an A or B pass.

Exactly, I ahve seen them make an announcement on th eplane that a child and parent "need" to sit together and who would like to switch and accomodate. Yes people are more than willing to help. We are a family of 4 and we have never been seated separately. We have always received an "A" or "B" boarding card and also have ALWAYS even been able to get 2 rows one behind the other. So please DO NOT stress over this.

Most likely you will be able to preboard because of the lap child. If it is a flight with a lot of families they will let you preboard because of the baby.

Actually, if she has a lap child and there are a lot of families and they cease preboarding, she will have to wait just like everyone else, except pax. with special needs. If she has purchased a seat and they have ceased preboarding for the 4 and unders they MIGHT let her preboard, but, there is no guarantee.

US Airways is usually pretty strict with the pre boards. Also if it is a flight going to Florida they sometimes suspend the preboard for families since there are so many of them.

Most businessmen and women are not fond of seat switching so this must have happened on a weekend.

When I flew USAirways to Orlando last week, they only allowed preboards for families with lap children or car seats. In addition to the usual handicapped, chairman's preferred, etc. Both flights were very full and lots of kids.

We had a slightly tubulent flight going to Florida. Across the aisle from me was a family of 4 in 3 seats plus a lapchild. It was making me nervous that the little girl kept standing back and forth between the mom in the aisle seat and the other child in the middle seat. They even made an announcement at one point to make sure you and your children's seatbelts were fastened because we were about to hit turbulents. I was waiting for her to go flying. She was probably between 1 1/2 and 2.

On Southwest, preboarding is allowed for the whole "nuclear family" if traveling with a child four or under. Mom, Dad, and all the kids get to preboard, but aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc. have to wait for their boarding group (A, B, or C). And the FAs are always extremely helpful.

not the case when we flew in January... seems like the WHOLE family, grandparents, aunts, uncles, babysitter, etc.... boarded with the ONE child in the family and a lot of those 4 years old were older!!!.... We had A boarding passes, but half the plane was full before the "regulars" were allowed on.. We were joking about it, thinking next time we're going to figure out a way to get on the preboard line!!! LOL... Seriously though, it's not really a big deal, we found seats together about half way down, just before the wing, which is where I usually like to sit any way.
