Does anyone know when Southwest will release their schedule starting in September? I think it only goes until September 3 or something like that.

March 30th! I'm waiting on it as well to book end of Sept travel.

If you go to the SW home page and scroll to the bottom, there is a link called ‘flight schedules’. it currently say March 30 they will release flights through Nov 5.

Thanks! Are the flights typically cheaper when first released?

I always book with points so I can take advantage of price drops. I booked our May flights the day they came out. All 3 have dropped in price since then.

I find that they are nothing special when first released. Book the fare if it seems like a decent price, and then you can re-book if there is a fare sale before your trip.

Flights to Hawaii on Southwest are the only ones where I got the lowest price by booking immediately when they were released. Flights to Orlando or California have always dropped.

We've always found this to be the case..... I usually book ours within the first few days that the date is released and we have usually never found the prices to be lower. The great thing about SW though, you can keep checking the prices.... if they are lower, they can credit your points, or credit your $$ the difference. We've had that happen before where they credited our points because the flight was like 60 points cheaper.

I would book right away. With SW you can easily keep checking and rebook for free if the price drops. For my flights in May I saved 28,000 points for four flight by constantly checking.

Everyone says just re-book, but remember that if you paid with a credit card, then the "refund" is issued as a flight credit that has an expiration date. This is fine if you are booking another flight soon, but not so good if you only fly once every couple years.

If you booked with points, then the system works better. You will get your points back with no strings attached.

I know you can rebook for the lower cost with points but do they allow you to do it with cash reservations now also?
