Just wanted to let everyone know that Southwest has opened up their schedule thru the holidays.

We just booked our Christmas trip to see family for a "not too bad" price. :-)

I was excited to see this, but they only have up thru Jan 4th. I am planning a weekend trip for that weekend, leaving on the 4th and coming back on the 7th. I wonder how much longer I'm going to have to wait now for the return flight to open up?

Yay, finally! I just booked 4 free flights for our December trip, using SW rewards points from their 50,000 point credit card offer. Getting the family of 4 there and back for just 50,400 points and $20 out of pocket. Direct flights, perfect flight times. I just couldn't be happier right now!

And HockeyMom, it will probably be about 2 months. But you can call and ask them--they will know the next release date. It seems like I have been waiting FOREVER to book these tix, lol.

July 9th as of right now. They changed the released date for holiday travel at least three times though. I am wondering why there are no nonstops out of Boston. Wth?

I just checked and our flights are outrageous. Ugh. They are $120-$240 and there's only 1 flight showing up at $120 and it gets in at 11:00pm. The rest are around $220 each way. If they don't go down I guess we're driving.

Thanks, OP!! Just booked our "Jersey Week" tickets...flights were not the lowest I've seen, but not astronomical either - the times were good so I booked our 4 one ways PHL--> MCO, and 2 one ways back from Ft. Myers (we're splitting the week between parks and beach). I am waiting on 12,500 points from an energy company switch special offer, so hopefully I can get tickets for the other half of my family to come home soon, lol!

Waiting for the prices to come out for our May 2013 trip?

You guys thing July?

This is from Southwest's website:

We are currently accepting air reservations through January 4, 2013. On July 9, 2012, we will open our schedule for sale through March 8, 2013. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently.

I booked my flights for the 4th. At least I know that I will be getting to Orlando. Who needs a flight home anyway! ;):lmao:

I guess it's not a bad thing to have to spread out the cost, and there's no benefit to booking round-trip any more.

We just booked our flights!!!!!!! I feel so happy that I could throw up!!! lol I used my SW points so I only had to pay the security fee- 20.00! Even if I didn't have the points to use, the price wasn't nearly as bad as we thought it was going to be. I opened the SW card when they had the 50,000 point offer just to offset the cost of the tickets and I was stunned when all 4 flights tickets were covered! I feel like shouting loud and wooping it up!! ( too bad no one knows that we are going away yet!!)
Now I don't feel so bad buying the christmas party tickets!! :) :)

Direct or nonstop?

Wow, only one non-stop option for our flight down (luckily it's the time we want), only two for flight back (very early, but will have to do).

Thanks for posting!

We have been watching ticket prices for my Mom to visit when the baby comes. This is the first time since Southwest came to the area that they have had the lowest prices. Since she will be traveling around the holidays, I really doubt the prices will be dropping much or any.

Got a GREAT!! price for Thanksgiving!!:cool1::thumbsup2

Thank you thank you THANK YOU! I just booked with Southwest after reading this! I have been watching and pulling up air prices a couple times per day the last couple weeks, and Delta was always the cheapest. Now, Southwest came in at about $75 per ticket cheaper, PLUS two free checked bags. So really, with Delta charging $25 per bag, we saved $100 per person! Woot Woot, I am so doing the happy dance right now.:cool1::woohoo::yay::cheer2:

Well our dates are there but at $238 each way HURTS!! That's almost as much as I used to pay Round trip - and we have an extra kiddo now. Not quite sure how this is going to work out. But congrats to those who got good rates.

Uggh since I'm a student the only time that my kids have off the same time as me is the week of Christmas. I can't imagine not being home for the holidays though...Thanksgiving doesn't give us enough time to make the flights worth it for me...I'm not sure what to do!

I booked SJC to MCO at 6 a.m. eastern of 6/4. Booked first two tickets with no problem. Went to book third ticket and flight went up $100 within 5 minutes! Crazy but I booked anyway (booking for multiple family members with cash and points).
