Southwest Refund ?

I have a reservation that I made a few months ago - two confirmation #s for 2 people each. The price has gone down twice since and both times I have been able to get the difference refunded to my CC. I had not made any changes to the itinerary. A few weeks ago I changed it to fly out a day earlier and the price was $112 lower. I understand that this $112 will not be refunded to my card because I changed the date and time. Today I was able to change one leg of the new itinerary because the price had gone down again, $180 this time. Do you think I will be able to get the $180 refunded because this time I again did not make any changes to the itinerary?

To answer my own question - Yes I called this morning and was able to get a refund. Yeah Southwest!

Really? I thought that any changes were put into your SWA account, except for taxes which get refunded to your CC. You learn something new every day!

The woman on the phone told me she would refund the difference. I guess it remains to be seen if it ends up back on my CC.

called SWA this morning because flights went down AGAIN :cool1: . Original booking for 4 BDL - MCO $1132.40 - new internet special price $548.40!!!!!!
Same times - same flights. Life is good. I spoke to an agent named Tina and she said to call back after we've returned and the $584.0 would be credited back to my CC. This is ok with me as long as they actually do it then but should I call again & ask another agent? We all know that, sometimes, talking to another person gets another answer!! I'm sooo excited!!

pooch....
I posted this on another thread for you but here it is again:

I have succesfuly had my price difference refunded to my cc before the flight. It was only for $56, so I don't kow if the amount has anything to do with it. It did take about 10 days or so for it to post, but it has been refunded already.

I believe if you only change the reservation to the lower fare and do not make any changes to the itinerary, you can get the difference refunded. It is not refunded automatically ~ you just need to call the customer relations dept at the 214 phone number and ask!

I got a refund today! We have the same itinerary, just changed the flights online to the cheaper ones. I called and got the refund. I didn't get much but it's still worth it :)

I've had my $$ refunded to my CC several times. They were all before my trip but I also never changed anything about my itenerary. Everytime I post about this, so many people post about how they couldn't get their $$ refunded. I'm glad to see that other people have also received it.

I just called today because the flights have gone down twice since I originally booked (from $849 for 3 people to $411 - $378 in ticketless travel funds). I, too, have not changed my itenerary.

The agent that I talked to said that if you started with a non-refundable fare and downgrade to a cheaper fare you cannot get a credit to your CC. This is a change in policy from years past when a downgrade meant a credit (yes, I have received these too).

I called the 1-800 southwest number - is there another number I should call?

never call the 800 number. All of my original reservations have been the cheapest non-refundable fares and i have always (the latest being last week) been able to receive a refund.

go to the travel center and click on "change itinerary". It'll ask for your Conf # and the name on the CC you used. Then it'll pull up your original info and give you the ability to change to the lower priced flights. Nothing will change until you finally accept it. I called the 1-800 SWA # the first time I did this and a VERY NICE rep talked me through it. When the prices dropped again yesterday I was able to do it myself even with very shaky hands!

Thanks princesspumpkin
I am currently in planning mode for a quick October trip and will use my ticketless funds there. I got a $59 flight from BDL to MCO on the 25th of October and will use the remainder of my funds when the window opens past October 27.

That and we are talking February to leave the cold Northeast.

DH wants to go to F&W.

Yup, I was one of those that would reply that I couldn't get cs to budge, even though all I did was change to a lower internet fare (no flight, date, time changes). But something got into me, and I called again after we returned, and the nice cs credited my cc. So now I'm a believer! Thank you for your posts!

Okay I am booked on the exact same flights I was booked on originally. However, in my case, I had to cancel then rebook because I got a ding. Does this matter in regard to refunds to CC vs. SWA travelfunds? I actually have more in SWA credit than my tickets ended up costing. (Originally booked 5 rt for $1128, ended up getting 5 rt for $525; have $600 in "credit").

Although we may be travelling in November, that $600 would probably cover the remaining expenses for the August trip.

Since you cancelled and rebooked, I am 99% sure they will not refund the difference. I believe the only time they will do that is if you went through the "change reservation" process. It may be worth a call to see, but I wouldn't expect to get a refund.

What about a ding fare? I changed from an internet fare to a ding fare. I had to cancel my flights since you have to use the ding link to book the fare and not the change link. Can I still get a refund?

Thanks

I also want to know. I always make my changes for a ding. Does this count as a cc refund if you cx and re- book with the ding for the same flight?
