Southwest - refund to credit card?

Last night I booked a flight for my brother in law on Southwest. This morning, the flight was cheaper, so I cancelled the flight. The email I received said "Refund on 09/18/09 to CREDIT CARD XXXXX for $$$$."

Does this mean that it is refunded directly to my credit card, or will I get a SW credit.

I've never cancelled and rebooked before and am confused!

Did you pay the full amount for the flight or was it one of the cheap flights? If you booked business class, you will get the refund to your credit card. But if it's a webfare or a wanna get away fare (the cheap ones) it should have been given as a credit, to be used later on another SW flight.

It was definitely a cheap flight (that wasn't very cheap!). But it said credit to the credit card, and when I tried to access the credit on Southwest, it kept coming up as an error. Neither the payment nor refund has shown up on the credit card.

Was it less than 24 hours? Some airlines have a 24 hour refund policy so that may be why you got the credit card refund instead of a southwest credit.

IIf you don't see the refund on your cc I would call them just to be sure. In my experience, they have great customer service so they should be able to help you out. Good luck.

Something similar happened to me where I booked a trip then wanted to change my dates and it was within 24 hours. Actually, it was in a few hours, but anyway, my cc was credited.

Yes Southwest will refund to your original form of purchase if you cancel within 24 hours of booking.
