Can someone explain the Early Bird Check In to me, please?

if you pay for early bird check in southwest will automatically check you in up to 36 hours before your flight which means you'll be amoung the first to board the plane.

personally i would not waste my money. instead i just check in 24 hours prior to my flight and get whatever boardign position i get which generally is in the A 30-60 ranger or somewhere in the B section which is fine by me and i've never had a problem sitting with my family/friends.

This might be a stupid question, but how do you get your boarding passes if you're checking in 24 hours prior to your flight while you're at Disney?

pre-smartphone days I had guest relations do it (both at a park and I think the concierge desk at the resort). You could also check in with your phone and then print the boarding passes at a kiosk at the airport. We have checked in on our phone before and had our boarding passes delivered to us with our DME packet I think. I don't know how Disney got them, but they were printed out for us.

if we check in before disney leaves the check out packet our boarding passes are in there.
if we check in after disney has left the packet we have done several things including printing it at the computer in the lobby area, having disney print it when we take our bags to be checked in at the resort airline check in, or gone to the southwest check in counter at the airport and printed the boarding passes then.

Sounds easy enough! Thank you all for your help!

If I check in to my departing flight 24 hrs. before I leave, will I still be able to check my luggage at the resort? My plan is to do that in the morning, then hit the park for a few hours before heading back to board DME in he afternoon.

You sure will! We've done that our last couple trips, no problem.

Yup, they will even hold your carry on for you while you are at the parks. Just don't forget to pick it up before getting on the bus.

If I paid for the early bird check in I can check in for my flight 36 hours before? If so that would be great because then I won't have to do it right before I leave for work.

Southwest will automatically check you in at the 36 hour mark, since you bought early bird checkin. You can then get your boarding assignment number and boarding pass at the 24 hour mark. You won't have to checkin though, yourself.

Great! Thank you so much!! Last time we flew Southwest we left on a Sunday so I had Saturday to do the check in.
