When did Southwest go up so high? I am astonished. I guess I shouldn't be with the gas prices so high but I am. I just got $59/one way in March and now they are up to $124/one way. Usually they are $79. It makes me wonder how much they will be next year at this time. I also wonder if we'll be doing our next year trip. Anybody else notice any huge price changes on other airlines. :confused3

I've noticed fare increases across the board for all airlines. There are two factors working on airline prices.

1. Gas prices. They have to pass the added cost onto the consumer.
2. Demand. Airlines have actually cut the number of domestic flights to increase demand. The higher the demand the more expensive the fare. The old supply and demand formula. I know from Indianapolis where we usually fly out of there are only 5 non-stop flights to Orlando for all airlines (2 NWA, 2 Airtran, and 1 SWA). It's very difficult getting a discounted non-stop flight to Orlando out of Indianapolis.

Has anyone noticed that they seem to have done away with ding fares for weekends? every once in awhile they do come up with a Saturday one, but I haven't seen any that are good for any day of the week in a long time.

SWA has LOTS of flights to Orlando from Baltimore but apparently they no longer feel the need to discount them. I am glad I booked several before all this started.

I'm very dissapointed in the airfares. We just got back from Orlando on Wed and our trip cost $135 RT. Now, they are up to $225RT. We have 2 free tickets coming for our next trip, and I'm hoping to get atleast the $79 fare. I think we won't be traveling as much anymore either. Jet Blue isn't much better.
