I'm going to book my Oct flights with points. I was wondering if anyone knew if the cost goes down do they credit you the point back if you re-book?

Yes they do. It's actually a little better than getting a refund with money since you don't only have a year to re-use the points. They are just added back to your point total and you can use them later!

It's great!

If you book with points and the price in points changes, you can change your flight (in essence cancel and re-book it) at the lower price. The RR points go back into you rewards account.

Check the transportation thread....there are tons of discussions on the best way to do it!

Yes. Also, you get refunded the difference if you switch from a layover flight to a nonstop flight. I believe it's $5 per leg of the flight, so $5 for a nonstop flight, $10 for one layover, etc. Sometimes they'll add flights as they get closer to the date or if I originally book a layover flight because it's the lowest point cost and then a nonstop flight comes down in points and I book that, I get my $5 back.

Just what I wanted to know. I've always booked with cash (credit) and I book my flight as soon as I can knowing I'll be taking another flight before the year deadline for the credits. Again thanks all!
