If you book with points and the price goes down, can you go back and rebook like you can with actual dollars and receive those points back ??? tks

Yes! I just did this a few weeks ago when Southwest was running the 40th Anniversary promo. I went to my reservation and selected "change" then followed the screens and rebooked the same flight at the lower fare. The difference in points was credited back to my account

I was able to do it but I had to cancel my original flights first. Everytime I tried to just change it I would get an error message. I called CS and they told me to cancel the flights. He points were immediately credited back to my account and I was able to rebook my flights at the lower points price.

The one time I made a change I did have an error message but assumed this was due to high volume with the SW anniversary sale. I just tried to make my changes by segment - inbound then outbound flight and it worked with no problem.

Ok one more question..when you rebook the flight with points and they put them back into your acct is there a restriction on them like have to be used before.... like if you rebook with cash the refund has to be used by the original booking date? Thank you... this is all so new and not sure where to find the info..need to book for Oct/Nov and would like to know... Thanks

I don't think so. When the points were put back into my account they didn't say anything about them expiring before any of my other points. The only thing I have found on southwest.com about expiring points was this:

Do the points I earn expire?

Points do not have an expiration date and will continue to remain active and valid as long as you have at least one qualifying earning activity every 24 months.

Thanks I was thinking that way from the wording...that is one better thing about this new system anyway...
