Southwest- pay for EarlyBird check-in with SW giftcard?

I've never used giftcards to pay for any part of our SW flights. Was wondering if anyone has ever used a SW giftcard to pay for the early bird check in add-on feature? I can't imagine why it wouldn't work but you never know about some of the "fine print"

I was able to apply gift cards to the airfare, but not the ECBI
