I think what happens is that there are cheap fares when they get released. I believe it is an inventory thing. They might have 10 seats @ $55/each, 10 seats @ $79/each, 20 seats @ $109/each, etc....Just because SWA is not a legacy airline doesn't mean they don't play by they same rules. Heck, SWA overbooks just like the rest of them! The reason their costs are so cheap is that they pay their help crap when compared to other carriers and they hedge the buying of fuel. But that wil catch up to them sooner or later. Then we will all pay.
Yes spashmt it is frustrating not receiving the lower fares. But, in turn like I said, I was expecting to pay $300 or so anyhow. It just sucks looking at the header and seeing $55 one way. Heck, it is alot cheaper than what the cruise line wanted to charge us. They wanted $600/person.
