Southwest Online Check-In System Down this AM - Now Fixed

UPDATE: The system problem has been fixed. I was able to finally print my boarding passes. Yeah!! I can not imagine the number of people who are going to be mad at the airport tomorrow because they were ready to check-in at 24 hours to get a good boarding pass and could not because of the problems.

For those of you flying SWA tomorrow, the online check-in has not been working for at least the last 2 hours. I did call the 800 number and after waiting about 15 minutes, they did confirm it was a system problem and they were working on it.

What happens is that when you try to retrieve your reservation to check-in, you get the following message: "Oops! Sorry, your itinerary is ineligible for checkin online. Please proceed to any Southwest Airlines Ticket Counter to check in for your flight."
 
Yep, I got this too just after 7:00 this morning. In my case, I had purchased "early-bird check-in" so I was just logging in to see what boarding number had been assigned, and to go ahead and print the boarding passes. Instead I get this message about being "ineligible for on-line check-in". Not a very helpful error message! :confused3

Like you I called SW and waited on hold (over 20 minutes in my case). I suspect they were getting quite a few calls this morning! :rolleyes:
