Southwest made me make THREE seperate reservations!

It actually depends on what type they are:

Up to two unused Ticketless Travel tickets per passenger (always applied first) and up to four of the following in any combination: southwestgiftcards, Southwest LUV Vouchers, Ticketless Travel Funds (left over funds not previously used) and one credit card.

Ticketless Travel Funds are what I've always gotten when I've been credited for a price drop - you can use up to four of them.

What's the difference between TTF and a Ticketless Travel ticket?:confused3

One time I travelled to WDW we had 4 different confirmation codes for a group of 6 of us. I went to the concierge desk to check in for my flight and the 2 people there made a game out of trying to get the better positions for our boarding passes. They each took 2 of the confirmation numbers and were ready with their trigger fingers with 2 separate screens each in order to beat each other. It was pretty funny and we got all boarding group A except for 1 person who was an adult anyway so it didn't matter. We were able to save her a seat with the rest of us since she was only one additional person and was near the beginning of boarding group B and we saved her a middle seat so who at that point would want her spot anyway? Two of the boarding passes were directly together, the third was only a few spots behind us in line and the fourth was really only another few spots away but that happened to bring her to boarding group B.

I bet that if you do get passes that are separated that you person at the gate will allow you to line up together, though it might be that you line up at the last person's position with everybody ahead of you moving up a spot (who would complain about moving up?). For that matter, if 2 of you get boarding group A and one is boarding group B, talk to the person at the gate and he might let you all board at the end of group A.

TTF (Ticketless Travel Funds) are what you get when the price drops or you cancel a non-refundable fare.

There is no Ticketless Travel Ticket. Perhaps you mean Rapid Rewards Voucher/Ticket (the one you get when you accumulate enough Rapid Rewards points.)?

He might, but he shouldn't (unless the B boarding pass holder has B 1) and I wouldn't count on it. He will let all of you board with the B group. Otherwise the two A's should board in their numerical order and the B board in numerical order with the B group.

Isn't SWA GREAT!? They allow you to take advantage of price drops when you book early and then they decide to have a sale. None of the other airline I have flown out of PHL do that.

The information I quoted in a previous post comes directly from the Southwest site, which is why I asked what a Ticketless Travel ticket refers to.

You can use up to FOUR Ticketless Travel Fund codes, but only two Ticketless Travel tickets. You said before you could only use two TTFs in response to someone's question (which is incorrect), so I figured you knew what the difference was - it might be the Rapid Rewards vouchers, but that's not what Southwest calls them. They really should rename them so they're not almost identical (funds vs. tickets).

I have never been able to use more than 2 TTF's at one time. That's the only option I have ever seen. Maybe it's because I only book one-way flights???

From the booking page:

Apply Travel Funds
Funds must be entered one at a time and may be applied to this reservation in the following way. Up to two unused Ticketless Travel tickets per passenger (always applied first) and up to four of the following in any combination: southwestgiftcards, Southwest LUV Vouchers, Ticketless Travel Funds (left over funds not previously used) and one credit card.

Nope, I went and pretended to book a round trip flight and it still said I could only use two TTF's.

Um, thanks for requoting the information that I previously posted? :confused3

I'm not sure why you weren't able to use more than one TTF - it clearly states you can use up to four. You should've been able to use four, or atleast three and a credit card if your TTFs didn't cover the cost of the new flight.

We always book one-way flights as well, and I've combined TTFs countless times. The only thing I've seen recently that I hadn't before is that a single reservation number actually split into two TTF codes after I entered it (even though for all I knew it was only one code). I assumed it was because I originally purchased the flight with multiple TTFs, and no matter how I entered it in, they were always going to be separate.

I think you're either reading it wrong or we're talking about two different things...

And no, not offended, just genuinely confused...I posted that info in a previous post in response to the original question of how many could be used (which, as I read it, is four for TTF) and you posted it again (which, as you read it, is two for TTF).

Well, then, I guess I am more confused than I realized. And now I appear to have added more confusion to the mix. Please feel free to ignore me. ;)

Ok, in all my confusion, I googled the term "ticketless travel ticket".

There's a lot of things, and I'm not even going to try to explain it, lol. I think it has something to do with whether the reservation is the full amount of the ticket or if you're just using credits from previously booked flights...

...but reading about it just confused me more. All I know is that my booking/rebooking has always allowed me to use more than two reservation codes.

Um, back to the matter at hand, OP - don't freak out about the boarding system as long as someone is checking you in at the 24 hour mark, give or take 30 seconds or so. ;)

I agree with TJ - when it's time to check-in, open up 3 windows, enter the information and hit enter on each of them right after the other when 24 hours hits. One time I didn't check-in until about 1 hour after the 24 hour mark, got mid B's and there were still plenty of seats together.

OP Here...
Yes, I did use Travel Tools to apply for the credits, but when I tried to APPLY those credits (also on Travel Tools) to the new time on the return flight, it wouldn't allow me to do it and told me to call the 800 number.
Also, using 3 computers, and/or opening 3 different windows might work at home when I check in for our outgoing flight, but I doubt it will work when I'm AT the park at 7:40 pm which is the 24 hour mark for our return flight.

In addition, I DID call again today to nicely ask if they could be combined back onto one confirmation number. The lady at the 800 number gave me a different number to call "customer relations" where they told me it "cannot be done without cancelling the whole thing and rebooking" at now much higher rates. This is my first experience with SW and I'm not really too impressed. It seems like it should be a simple, clerical type thing to fix and she kept telling me it was "impossible" to do.
I guess I'm left with taking out chances....

How many TTF's were you trying to use?

I had 3 tickets total, I booked the flight originally for 79 per person. Last week it went down to 68 pp so I used Travel Tools to get 33 dollars in credit. Then, on Wed, the same flight went down to 48 pp, so I used Travel Tools and got 60 dollars more credit. I had a total of 93 in credit, and wanted to apply that to a more expensive return flight later in the evening on the same day that I had originally booked to come home. So by applying the 93 credit, I only needed to pay an additional 27 on my credit card. The system said this was "too many forms of payment", but she easily did it over the phone, but had to split into 3 confirmation numbers.

The online system will only allow you to use 4 credits per ressie number. You had 6 -- 2 different adjustments for 3 tickets equals 6 credits.
They can only apply 4 credits in their system too but they can split your ressie into 2 or 3 so you can use all the credits you have. It's either split the ressie or don't use all the credits-- sucks but at least you get to chg and use all your credit!

WOW I just went and looked at my Credit.

It does break it down to 2 different credits but still is all the Same Confirm numbers as My Flight. So I have and this was done from Travel tools on exact same flight just different price.

Total Payment: 259.20

Current payment(s)
05/15/09 Ticket Exchange 123456788 $129.60
05/15/09 Ticket Exchange 123456789 $129.60
Tktls funds remaining in conf#xyz123 for future travel 38.00
Tktls funds remaining in conf#xyz123 for future travel 38.00

I went back to one of my Old credits i had and It just just gave the Confirm number and amount no break down. When they were applied it just has the Confirm # and amount .

So this must be a new way to get them to stop you from trying to get multiple changes and credits and is just crazy . I bet this is a way for them to get you to stop selling your credits as well as it wouldn't be worth it to have to log in 4 credit of say $25 each as apposed to 1 $100 credit

Let me see if I have the sequence right

1) The OP buys some non-refundable tickets
2) The price goes down, and SW allows her to change her reservation without any fee or penalty, and issues a credit for the difference
3) The price goes down again, and SW allows her to change her reservation without any fee or penalty and issue a credit for the difference.
4) The OP decides she wants to take a different flight, and the airline allows her to cancel the flight she no longer wants to take without any fee or penalty.
5) The OP wants to use all her credits to pay for the new flight, but there is a rule against using that many credits for one reservation.
6) A helpful phone rep finds a way around the rule by splitting up the reservation and allows her to use all the credit in booking the flight she wants

Does the OP come on to lavish praise on SW for their flexibility and incredibly fair customer relationships? Or does she blast them and complain?

Gotta be tough to be in business some days.

The good news is that 3 reservations numbers isn't the end of the world. Or even anything to worry about. It'll add a minute to the check in/out process and move you back a few places in line. You'll still have no problem getting seats on the plane. Seriously, don't worry about it.

I understand what you're saying, DisneyWalker, but to be fair, I don't think the OP was blasting SWA - I think she was just disappointed that what seemed to be such a clean and easy process got a lot more complicated.

And speaking for myself, while I'm grateful that SWA even offers the possibility of getting credits, the new process is making it more difficult for people to take advantage of it. Smart in a business sense, no doubt. And still they're more accommodating to us than a) they have to be and b) most other airlines. And I imagine that in order to give us consistently low fares (though not always the lowEST) these types of changes are necessary. They're still not charging luggage fees, they're still not charging for seat assignment, they're still not charging for cancellations, and they're still consistent with keeping their flights as scheduled (as opposed to cancelling them or changing times after you book, as other airlines do) so, for me, they're still among my top two choices to fly with. (JetBlue is the other.)

But, again speaking for myself, I've heard about several new policies and procedures at SWA over the last 18 months or so that seem to be approaching the slippery slope of "nickel and diming", though it's in a more covert way that says to the customer, "well, you CHOSE this". (Different fare classes, ABC boarding, Ticketless Travel Fund credits, etc.)

Again, I still think their customer service is (for the most part) top notch, their fares are competitive, and I think they're overall a good airline.
