SouthWest is offering 50K points Credit Card again

Do the bonus points definitely count towards the companion pass? I was checking on the rewards site and it says that bonus points don't count towards status levels ie a-list, a-list preferred, companion pass. Confused!
Yep!! Doesn't count towards a-list, but they count towards CP. I have 55k points and it says I am 49% to CP when I log in.

Yep! We are halfway to a CP with them!

My parents got this card late last week and we have charged everything we can this week to try to hit the $2000 as fast as possible. My father made a payment Tuesday that has not credited. Because the card has a $2000 limit and they don't want to go over, they can't charge until this payment credits. Has anyone else had this happen? Were you able to charge more than your limit by making payments?

Thanks!

I just got my points today trying to book my flights... when i search for 1 adult the points are 10,548 for the returning ticket when i search for 2 adults they are 11,994 per ticket. so strange. any disadvantage for not booking ticket in same transaction?

Nope, book that one ticket at the lower price. Every person/ticket will have their own confirmation number when you book with points, so it doesn't matter how you book.

You will see that a lot- they will have a lower price for a certain number of seats, and it must be that there is only one left at that price.

And of course, keep checking back after you book in case it goes down- if you change to a lower price, the points go right back in your account!

Do you have to call and have it changed or do you just cancel and rebook online? Do the points get returned instantly or is there a waiting period?

You do it online, but don't cancel and rebook- just "change". Go to Travel Tools at the top right of their screens and choose "Change Air Reservation". You mark the one you want to change, and it takes you to the choices of flights, and you pick the one you want. I believe points have been returned to me instantly.

You could maybe cancel and rebook instead, but it's better to just change, so if you have EBCI, you don't lose it.

You can also change your flight time, date, destination, whatever, not just the price in this way.

What ever you decide, do it soon because after March 31 the price per point is going up. SO it will take more point for the flight even though the cash price has not increased.

Is this deal still available for the 50,000 bonus points? When I look at southwest site, I only see that you get 25,000 bonus points per card. Is there a link or a code, or is the special 50k offer expired?

Thanks!

Wish I saw this earlier. It would give us 2 flights and if wife did it another 2.

I pay everything with a cc so using it to get the points is easy.

There is a link a few posts back that will get you to the 50,000 pts for the premier card.

Thank you all so much for all of this information, especially Melanie502 for the link to the 50,000 points card application. I applied for my card, was approved, and will use the card to buy Disney gift cards, so that when the fall deals are announced, I'll be ready to book and pay for my resort and tickets. Then I can use my points for our plane tickets and BAM!! I'll score!!!!

I need advice - has anyone been rejected for the card and been successful in calling and trying to have the decision reversed?

Heres the story: I have the card already for personal use and received the points deal a few years back. Also, my husband applied separately for his business and received the card and the points deal a few years back. We have outstanding credit and have been regular users of both cards. So I am starting a little business of my own (a small store) and need a credit card to get started with vendors etc. I applied for the business card in my businesses name, but since I'm just starting, I don't have any income from the business to report. I am also currently a stay at home mom and have no income. I used my household income (husbands salary) on the application. So they rejected my application and said the family already has too much credit with Chase and the business is too new to issue a credit card. I really need the credit card for my business and wasn't just doing this to get the points, I will apply for a card with another company - but the 50,000 points sure would have been nice - anyone think it is worth calling to appeal?

I remember reading several posts by people who called and were approved after initially being denied. It can't hurt to try if you really need it.

Last year we flew on United and I got the United card so we could get free checked bags. It was a Chase card and I already had two other Chase cards. They called me and said that since I had the other cards they could issue the United card only if they lowered the credit limits on the other two cards. Then I would still have the same credit limit through Chase but it would be spread out between three cards. That was fine with me.

Maybe you could suggest they do that with your cards too?

well - it's worth a try! I need to check with my husband before I go lowering his limit on his business card - but I'll check it out.
