Southwest is giving 50,000 points again

I don't know why you were not able to re-book only the flight to MCO. Like I said before, I have booked RT flights in the past and have always been able to re-book the flight down without having to re-book the return flight at the current rate. All you have to do go under the "change flight" link, enter your confirmation info and make your check mark next to the flight that has the new low fare. You don't have to cancel your flights first in order to do it.

I've done that too, lots of times, with no problems.

I should have been more clear. My situation happened because I had to change our return date. Therefore, I had to rebook all of the tickets (both ways). The outgoing flight price had increased, so I had to pay a higher price since the tickets were originally RT (even though the date and flight time were the same on one of the flights). Had I booked each ticket as a one way and had to change the date of one of the flights, I could have easily done so while keeping the original lower outgoing ticket price.

So yes, you can easily rebook at a lower price for one flight and keep the price of the other flight IF the flight dates don't change on a RT ticket. But if you change a date on one of the flights (let's say there's a WDW special that starts a day later or the airfare drops significantly a day earlier or later on one of the flights), you have to cancel, get a credit, and rebook the whole ticket and possibly pay more if the price increased on one of the flights.

From now on, I book one way at a time, not even necessarily on the same day. Book one way and then wait for a good deal on the other way before booking. This is especially beneficial for people who don't fly SW very much and might lose some flight credits.

What's everyone buying to get their $2,000? I don't want to just buy random items?

My husband has a class to register for, so I will be using my card to pay for that and the book. I'll also be picking up a rental car with it for a weekend trip. But I'm guessing all of that will bring me in at $1100, so I'm a bit lost on what else to do to get up to the $2K.

I got this card last year during the 50,000 promo. I called today to cancel my card. They told me that if I cancel, I would lose all the points in my Southwest rewards account. Anyone know about this? I still have points/miles in my account and some of them were because I had paid flights on Southwest. I didn't cancel because I need to figure this one out, and I'm not losing my points. I will call SW to see what the deal is, just thought I'd check here to see if anyone had this happen.

Unless something changed, it's not true.

When my wife and I got ours, we cancelled her card after the 1st year (due to not wanting to pay the annual fee on 2 cards). She did NOT lose any points.

What they told her was, that she would lose any pts on the card that had not yet transferred to the SW Rapid Rewards account. So say you are mid - month, and have earned 500 pts that on that billing cycle that havent transferred over. They told her she would have lost those. As we cancelled right after a billing cycle closed, that wasnt an issue for us.

My husband and I cancelled our cards over the summer, and we each still have miles in our RR accounts.

My husband was told he would loose his points if he cancelled in the first 6 months. I'd call back and talk to someone else.

I have my first payment due tomorrow of $1300 in the Southwest Card. However, I have spent an additional $1200 since the billing cycle closed that will be billed in the next cycle. If I pay off $2000 now will the 50,000 bonus points go into my rapid rewards account now or not until the end of the next billing cycle?

FYI for anyone else wondering-my billing cycle closed yesterday and the points were in my account TODAY

You can still get it here:

I got mine 1.5 weeks ago. My husband just applied a few days ago. It's the 50,000 bonus points and a $69 annual fee. :cool2:

OMG! Thank you for the link!

We are doing Disney next month, and DH and I decided that since DS (16) is getting older, Vegas will be in the picture more in the future! We had already agreed to get the SW deal when it finally appeared again - only if the 50,000 miles thing was in effect.

Thank you much! I was instantly approved.

I did this deal last year, used the points for our trip in May... flew 4 people from Wisconsin to Disney roundtrip for $0!!! It was great! I cancelled that card in November right before my annual fee was due and I signed up for the deal again. I also signed up DH so between the two of us, we'll have 100,000 points to use up.

I use mine for gas & groceries. My dad is restoring his antique car and will be getting some chrome work done. He said I could pay it with my card and then he'll just pay me so that'll be an extra $900 to get me up there.

Like I tell people, you'd be stupid not do to this. Honestly.

I already have my pts. but thanks for posting the latest link. My mom was able to get approved for her card today and will get those pts. in a few months for our August trip. in the last month we were only able to find the 25,000 pt. deal and decided to wait so this was a nice surprise that the 50,000 was back.

Anyone know if Canadians can apply for this card? I have a bunch of other US cards (target visa, macy's) but i saw that Chase doesn't allow us to get the Disney Visa so curious to know if this is the same or different??

I thought this opportunity had passed. I was flying in December and thought about signing up at the airport, but their rep told me it had passed. So when I saw this a few minutes ago, I was ecstatic. Just applied online and it said I was approved.

Has anyone applied recently and been approved, if so, how long did it take to receive your card? I've got $4K due for a group airline tickets on Southwest and would love to use the card for the double points. Anyone remember how quick your card came?

It comes within a week.

I've had the card for over a year -- just got my 3,000 anniversary points! :goodvibes

Today my DH applied and was accepted for the card (and the 50,000 points contingent upon $2,000 being charged in first 3 months). I just logged into his Chase accounts and the new account is already there!! :yay:

So if you have other Chase accounts, you should be able to log in and see your new SWA account! :thumbsup2

I just looked at my bill and was charged the $99 fee. I thought it was $69? I used the link here. I thought I saw someone else was charged the fee of $99 (premier/signature card). Any luck on getting them to change it?
