Okay, I don't understand all these different options regarding Southwest airfare. What category should you purchase in?????

The cheapest - even if their prices go down - you probably can re-book and get a credit.

Internet fares - self explanatory. You can only book at that rate online. Promotional fares are usually between certain cities on certain days - a sale for a limited time.

As for the rest... can you click on each of those names (on SW's website) to get a description? Usually they have different rules about refunds, cancellations, schedules, etc. Check these before booking - the cheapest may not always be the best for you.

The cheapest one. :rotfl:

We always try to get the cheapest flight rather than the refundable cuz we travel SWA often enough that if we had to change our plans we would just take the credit for future travel.

I found this info on the SWA website.

Even though all fares say you must upgrade your ticket to travel on another flight we have never been asked to do that and we have missed a few flights.

I hope this helps.

I agree book the cheapest. Even if you cancel you still get your full fare back in credit that you have 12 months to use. There's really no risk.

Does anyone know if all ticket types at Southwest are eligible for printing boarding pass 24 hours in advance?

Indeed you can. Again, booking the the cheapest ticket has all of the benefits of a more expensive ticket plus a lower price tag. I'm still not sure who's buying the more expensive fares when the cheaper fares are there for the taking. Don't forget to download Ding!
