Has anyone flown Southwest from Detroit to Orlando? Flight 986 departs Detroit on Saturdays at 09:10 am, arriving Orlando at 01:45 pm. There is a number 1 in the stops column but I'm not clear if that means you have to change planes or if it only stops and picks up passengers and you continue on the same plane. 4 hours and 25 minutes seems long in duration for what is a 2.5 hour non-stop flight from Buffalo. I'm checking for my brother who is London. I'm trying to convince him to fly out of Buffalo with the rest of us but have been unsuccessful.

It means you probally have a connecting flight, where you have to get off the first plane and catch the connecting flight. I doubt that you would continue on the same plane, I don't think they can do that, not sure. We took Northwest out of Detroit at 9:13 am and it got there about 11:30 or so, I can't remember off hand. Catching is a connecting flight is not bad, you don't have to go through security or anything else again, basically you change change gates just a bit of a walk. The only bad thing is that its time consuming and if you don't like planes well you be on it longer! :goodvibes

From the website:
N/S = Nonstop;
Numeral indicates total number of stops on same plane (direct) flights.
City code with a numeral indicates city where change of plane occurs and the number of stops including the connecting city.

sorry, Jaafan1ca:)

We looked at a flight that went from Manchester to TPA, with a stopover in MCO (and the notation was a "change planes")

Cheesy OT question, could we just get off the flight, and not get back on for the dep to TPA? It was a OW flight, so no harm for the return being cancelled on us...

Wonderng what would happen?

TIA!
..and again, sorry for the thread hijack :blush:
