Southwest fares opened at $145 each way from Denver to Orlando for June. I didn't have the cash on hand so I waited. Now they are up to $174 and $194 for the flights I need. We're still 5 months out, but the fares are going the wrong way! Should I book now and bank the $$ if they go down, or do you Southwest experts think they will go down?

I noticed this too, in August, from Hartford to Orlando. Total for 7 people was $3,005! Hoping they come down...

southwest will give you the credit if it goes down. I booked in Oct. For April and it has gone up never down. Gas prices are going up and I heard jet fuel prices will too.

There was actually an article in the Denver Post this morning about airfare having gone up three times in the last month or so. The most recent increase was started by Southwest and the other airlines have followed suit, so it is expected to hold.

Anecdotally, SW opened at $135 each way for Spring Break DEN to MCO. It's now up to $184 and that's with a change of plane. Nonstops are over $200 each way.

I would say if you think you'll travel again within the year, book SW now and if the rates comes down, take your credit.

Check out Delta. Their rates have been great lately. I bought 3 tickets to orlando for $532 including all taxes and fees during spring break!!
