Southwest fare release dates for June 2014

Hi all...Went from Hartford to Orlando this past April and we paid through the nose for our Southwest flights, partially because we waited to book. So in your experiences, will we get the best deals by booking SW flights on the day they are first released? And also, is it always 6 months in advance, or should I just be checking the rates daily? Thanks!

Agreed on pricing. In general, my experience has been that flights earlier in June have a chance of fare sales or reductions but flights later in the month when the summer season is in full swing are rarely discounted. We usually get the best prices when the fares open for booking and don't see them go down from there. It does vary depending on your airport, however.

In the past couple of years no June dates have opened for booking until November. This year, as the PP noted, dates through June 6 will open in October. I would expect the rest of the month to open for booking in November. See the link below for past release dates to give you some idea of when the schedule may open going forward.

Thanks to both of you for the info and the link! I'll check over there. We aren't going until June 21 so I should probably expect to pay a lot, huh? Groan...of course!
