Southwest "Ding" fares

I just downloaded Ding, too. I'm interested in a September flight~end of the month. Does anyone know how far in advance they usually list their specials?

All of them right now are for summer.

We got our air back in February for end of June, so you might see it soon. Watch your DINGS now to see what the date they are running through.

Great fares!! We downloaded DING on our computer a couple of weeks ago and just last week we got fares to Orlando from Indianapolis for only $30 each way (about $40 each way after you figure in tax & fees)! So we wound up booking a flight for me and my husband for a total of $166 (after taxes/fees). We're super excited!

I'm happy for you, but sooooooo jealous. :rotfl:
We usually fly Delta out of Cinti (the highest costing airport in the country - no lie - Budget Traveler even did a blurb on it).

We downloaded Ding a few weeks ago w/Louisville as our main airport. Can anyone tell me if, when you get "dinged", is it only for the airport that you signed up for, or any/all airports? We were in Disney last week, so maybe we missed the ding. :flower:

It shows all airpots. I know I get 2 or 3 a day. Living in the smallest state has it's rewards, and Greene airport is one of them. Easy in and out, good service, and usually a cheap fare in comparison to Boston.

It is for all airports. So far, SDF to MCO hasn't shown up yet that I've seen. I live in Louisville, so we're eagerly awaiting the October routes to open up. Plus, DH just found out he is going to a conference in Orlando in June, and we missed those gorgeous $59 fares. DD and I could have gone and just hung out by the pool if they were available. Guess we'll have to wait until October.

I've seen SDF to MCO a couple of times in the last few weeks, but they were pretty lousy deals (only a few dollars off the regular fares). So we looked for Indianapolis instead and got a MUCH better deal.

Actually, I just got a DING notice a couple of minutes ago...they have the $48 each way from Indy to Orlando again (must fly anytime between June 17th and August 30th).

Hmmmmm............. I didn't get dinged and I've been online all day. Wonder if my "dinger" is working. (Sounds like a personal problem, doesn't it?) :rotfl2:

I don't wanna know.... :ssst: :rotfl2:

The DING I got says it expires at 7pm CDT tonight...this is what it says:
Another great deal just released! Click here to puchase by 7:00 PM, CDT, April 20, 2005.

I have only seen Hartford to Orlando once. My computer is always online and I'm always looking for updates. I've seen Hartford to Jacksonville and West Palm a few times. I think Hartford to Orlando is due to come up soon! Keep watching!

Thank you, I will keep looking everyday. I am glad that you were about to get a good deal. :Pinkbounc

Last night I finally saw hartford to orlando. Rate of 127.90 per person. I was so excited. We booked it so quickly that I started to shake. I usually like to ponder over things for awhile. I think this was the cheapest we ever paid for airfare. Thanks everyone to alerting me about ding. :cool1:

I always check SW, but they fly out of Birmingham and not Atlanta, and for me, Delta is always the cheapest (out of ATL).

Has anyone seen a Ding for BHM to MCO?

We just saved $30 a ticket (for a family of 7) using ding- we now have a $210 credit for next year. In our experience, it takes about a month for Ding to offer a lower fare to the same area again, so keep checking. I'm hoping it may go down again before our trip in July.

DING fares are MUCH cheaper than regular southwest fares.

Well, I have seen Providence to Orlando 4 times in the past two weeks. All were the same deal. Funny thing is that even though the deal said $70, when I booked, it came out to $55.10 each way, plus tax. (I can just barely tank up my F150 for the one way fare they charge!) SWA is such an awesome airline! One of the smartest in the industry, IMO. They are always showing a profit even with these great fares. One of their secrets is purchasing fuel in large bulk when it's low. Most of the fuel they are using today was purchased 2 years ago. I guess eventually the pricing will catch up, but I will enjoy it for the time being.

i just downloaded Ding and i have been getting at least 2 Ding a day , wow, nothing i can use yet, though :rotfl:

This is what happened with us. The deal said Indianapolis to Orlando for $48, but it came out to $30 each way plus tax (with tax & fees, it came out to justa bout $40). So sometimes the deals are even better than what Ding is advertising.

Has anyone seen any Ding's out further then August? I just downloaded recently and the furthest out I have seen is August 30. We are going in October, how soon do you think they will start dinging October?

i did noticed the cheap flights and then when you get to adding taxes, sec taxes and all other fees it can out to be $40 or more extra to fly each way.
i can never figure out how one airline only chrages $21 for all taxes & fees when another charges $40 for the same taxes & fees.

As far as I know, this varies by the airport, not by the airline. Also, keep in mind that the fees increased after 11 September to reflect additional security costs.

I just got a Ding this morning and the travel date is until September 12th. So I'm assuming October will be out in another couple of weeks.

I have Ding too and am waiting for that great fare deal !! my question is this..... we are traveling with 4 other couples who really don't use the computer much and/or work all day etc..... If a great fare pops up on Ding, would they be able to get the Ding fare too without have "Ding" ?? anyone know ?? :flower:
