Southwest "Ding" fares

If a great fare pops up on Ding, would they be able to get the Ding fare too without have "Ding" ??

You have to have Ding installed on your computer in order to get Ding fares. The promotions are exclusive to Ding users...you cannot get the promotion any other way. When Ding pops up, you have to use the "book it" link they provide which automatically brings you to the Ding promotional fare reservation area. So yeah, they'd need to have Ding on their computer if they want to utilize their fares.

Do I have to have a fare booked to get DINGed, or just download the software? I don't have any trips planned at the moment, but those APs are burning a hole in my pocket...TIA

All you need to do is download and install the program. Whenever your internet is on and a promotion comes out, you will be DINGed.

This isn't true! I can't get mine to work, so looked for a way to fix it. Found this.....

I personally don't support things like that. The fares are supposed to be exclusive to DING users, and this just allows the program to be taken advantage of...which winds up then causing problems on whether or not the program should continue. The Southwest Airlines website calls the fares exclusive meant for those who actually use the program.

I got my best "Ding" a couple days ago. I was able to save $254 off 2 tickets from BWI to ABQ in August. Now I'll use that credit to fly my daughter home for a visit over the summer.

That is fine, just don't use the link. But for those that can't get it, I see nothing wrong with it. That website actually shows you how to get your own user numbers as well, which is in the same thread somewhere, just look around. I have my own user number, and just cut and paste each day to go to the page to buy.
