with apologies for the deviousness of these questions, but does anyone know for sure...

if you have a few credits accumulated from drops in fares, can you use them to buy a fully refundable ticket and then later get a full refund? or will they just refund you with another credit?

also, if you have five travelers with credits, can you use the max of four to buy a ticket and then cancel that ticket to combine it with the fifth person's credit?

I'm not sure. I just wanted to suscribe to this thread so I could find out the answer to this question also. I have a credit that I have thought about doing the same thing with so I can get my money back if needed. If not, we can use it on our next vacation.

The answer to your first question is that you will get a credit, not a cash refund.

I cant help you with the second question.

My understanding is no when you book on a credit and cancel for any reason it goes back to the original credit and 1 year deadline.

The second is the same when you cancel it will go back to the original 4 credits.

I know people who tried to extend ( ended up losing) credits by just tring to extend the 1 year by booking another flight and canceling it .

Now SW has changed some things but I don't think thats one as they are the best when it does come to things like credits or switching flights with no penalty.

Good luck I've even seen people put them up on E-bay and get some of their money back.

We first flew SWA back in January 2005 - and had a $360 credit from those flights (6 of us) I had booked them in October so we only had until Oct 2005 to use them.

As we were not travelling again until January 2006 I called and asked for an extension - they said sure. Well, my January 2006 went down in price too and I got more credits!

So we booked again for July 2006 and that also went down in price, I rebooked that and got even more credits. I called for a refund and they said I had wait until I had completed my travel as I had used some credits from past travel.

When I returned last Monday from our trip, I called SWA requesting my refund and it was posted to my credit card yesterday!

I LOVE SWA.

Yes and thats because you did infact use the travel and thats why they stated you had to wait until you completed travel ( not then canceling).

SWA has the best flight change policy in the business but they do malke you follow the steps to get it .
