I have a question for all you SW experts. I have a credit with them from last year that is going to expire soon. Do I have any options with this??? I believe travel had to be done by early August and there is no way we are traveling before then anywhere we'd fly to. Can I transfer this to someone else and if so how? It was all done via internet-- I rebooked to a lower fare and ended up with a credit.

Very simple. You can make the reservations for the other party just by getting their dates and plugging in the old reservation number and then enter the required information from the old ressie. Or, you can give the party the information necessary (there is nothing sensative required) to make the reservatiion themselves. These credits are fully transferrable.

I know that you can ask for an extension. You just have to call and ask them. :flower:

extensions usually run 6 months

we have had a "voucher" for mother in law extemded before....

Would this be a possible scenerio? :

1. Book SWA travel 08/05 for travel 12/05.
2. Sometime between 08/05-12/05 re-book travel to get a better rate (ie. DING or seat sale).
3. Call SWA and have the ticketless travel funds (that should expire 08/06, since this would be when original travel is booked) extended to 12/06
4. Book travel (using ticketless travel funds) between 08/06 and 12/06 (for SWA 12/06 fares

The reason I ask is the only time we would fly SWA would be during the month of December.

Any thoughts?????

Well, I'm going to have to call SW tomorrow. Unless they can extend the credit for a year-- I really don't think we'll travel in time to use it. To boot, we were supposed to be headed to WDW next week. We have to cancel that trip, and now I have 3 R/T tickets on Jetblue I'm going to have a credit for too. That we will use again though-- there's no way I'm letting over $400 go to waste. I know they're going to charge me a fee though.

there will be a date attached to the ticketless funds too...

eg.....book 08/06/05.... (rebook later in the year ) but the ticketless funds are attached to the original date

will have to be used by 08/06/06 unless you are able to get the extension.....travel must also be completed before the date of the Ticketless funds expiry

on a side note, they do extend RR awards too but they charge for that ( it used to be 50$ for a years extension ) but that may have changed too since they are revamping the whole RR program....

kilee, call the southwest refund dept (number on their website) i have successfully gotten my southwest credit refunded to my credit card.

I just did this last week. I have $453 that is expiring on May 7th. First, I asked if they would refund the money - answer was no. I was given a six month extension. I'm not sure if they will give you a longer extension, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Good luck!

Well, I called it took several times. They have long waits and they're long distance (almost like getting a PS for CRT :) ) Anyway, the women I got was a bit difficult-- gotta love 'em. I didn't have last years confirmation #-- I don't know where it's at. Then I have no clue which card I booked with. Anyhow, she found me and she says she refunded my credit. I was pretty sure my fee was nonrefundable-- however, she claims she's putting it through. So, I'll watch for it.
I do know that if I couldn't refund it I was going to find out how to donate it to the Make a Wish foundation. I had a prepaid hotel in NYC last year I couldn't use or refund and contacted them about using the room.

I booked through them last year and paid with a credit card. Rates went down over $200.00 before I left and they said they would give me a travel credit. I said I preferred a refund so I could have more money to travel with and they credited my credit card...no problems....even though the site that I read said no refunds. I thought they where great.
