Southwest cancelled my flight!

It's not until October, but ugh!

I had a 2:10 nonstop from MCO to PVD. Now the only nonstops are at 10:10 am or 7:55 pm. I think I'll go with the 7:55 pm one, but it is a Sunday, so I'm sure my kids won't be raring to go to school Monday morning. So bummed.

What is their policy regarding this? Both of those flights cost more now than the one I had booked. Will I be able to switch without a price increase?

I don't think they have a policy. Just don't take no for an answer. We have taken late flights with our kids. They've slept on the flight and had no problem getting up. Good Luck

If the airline cancels the flight you booked then it should let you pick any alternate flight that is not sold out without collecting any more money. (For those airlines that do price matching you would not be entitled to a fare reduction for that transaction if the flight you picked was priced lower.)

How do you know your flight was cancelled? Did Southwest call you? Send you an email? What options did they give you?

Did they call and tell you this??? We also have a Sunday 2:10 flight from MCO to PVD in October.... I better check that out!!!

Thanks for posting this!!

No call or e-mail. I'd just been checking to see if a better time had been posted, and noticed my flight was gone. When I punch in the flight number and info, it shows "no flight found". But, it's still listed under my upcoming travel. Maybe that's just so I can switch it.

Can you call SW to see if it is really cancelled? Not sure how they could do this without notifyng you. Who did you book reservation threw?

The same thing happened to me for my trip last November. I was surprised because everyone says Southwest doesn't cancel flights. In my case, I couldn't sign in and view the flight anymore, and when I called in to ask about the problem, I was told the flight was cancelled and I was assigned to a different flight. The new flight left WDW two hours earlier than the original. I asked for another a flight, but the customer service rep said they were all booked. I wouldn't have had to pay more if another flight was available.

Well, I just spoke with SW and she said that I was still scheduled on the flight. She said if it was cancelled, I'd have gotten an e-mail. Hmmm. Not sure if I believe her.

She said it must be sold out. But previously, when a flight was sold out, it would still show up online, but as not available.

Southwest will sometimes show a flight which is fully booked and sometimes won't. Southwest has been, briefly, "hiding" flights while updating fares.

That's why I asked how you knew your flight was cancelled. Southwest will almost never cancel a scheduled flight, of course excepting weather and mechanical issues.

I agree, SWA does not usually cancel flights once a schedule has been set. The only time a SWA flight has been cancelled on me was because of Hurricane Katrina. We were supposed to fligh through New Orleans, but the airport had been closed. That was the one and only time SWA has ever cancelled one of my flights.
