I just bought tickets today thru SW and was going to buy the early booking - but when I attempted to do this it told me I could not. I also realized this is an AirTran flight I believe. Now - will I be able to select seats?? And if so when - thanks I am totally new to SW and I thought I had it figured out!!

Since you bought an AirTran flight through SW your seat will be assigned seats 24 hour before your flight. When you get to the airport the Gate Agents may be able to change your seat assignment but I wouldn't count on it.

Thanks and that is not what I wanted to hear. The tickets were for my mom and sister and my sister loves her aisle seat. Me thinks I really goofed up!

Southwest needs to speed things up with this merger. The Delta-Northwest merger was quick and easy. The Continental-United merger, while messy, was at least fast. This Southwest-Airtran merger is taking much longer than it needs to be, making loyal fliers upset. Still a charge for baggage if you book through Airtran.com, No assigned seating/early bird if you book through Southwest, two different FF mile programs. This merger has been going on for about two years now, and the only thing that has really changed is some planes going over to Southwest and some cities switching.
