Alright so the last time i flew southwest to disney world we weren't able to check our bags and have them taken right to the hotel. We had to pick them up in the luggage area and take them with us. From the sounds of it, it looks like that has changed. can someone tell me if this is correct. I'm having a freak out moment here! lol we leave in 3 days!!

Did you get the yellow tags from Disney for your bags? If you did then DME will take care of it. If not then you will have to get your own bags.

i've been flying southwest and using DME since 2007 and there has never been an issue where disney could not pick up our luggage just cuz we were taking southwest arilines.
as long as the yellow DME tags are on it they will take it to your hotel.
there was a time that you could not check your luggage in at the hotel for it to be taken to the airport for you and put on your plane if flying southwest but as of at least 2010 you have been able to do that.

They only time you have to pickup the luggage in baggage claim is if your flight arrives at 10:00pm or later. That applies to any airline at MCO.

You've always been able to have DME pick up your luggage and take it to your hotel for you regardless of which airline you're flying. What you didn't used to be able to do if you were flying Southwest is check in for your return flight at your hotel and then have them take it to the airport for you, but Southwest has been participating in RAC (Resort Airline Check-in) for quite a while now.

Have you received your DME packet, with yellow tags inside? If you haven't, you will have to get your bags yourself, or give a description of your bags and the claim numbers, to the CMs at the DME counter.

It has always been possible to tag your bags when flying into MCO on SW. That was never an issue. It was only the return flight that was an issue....and that was a RAC issue. Their system didn't coordinate with SWs system. That has all changed now.

As long as you have your yellow tags on your checked bags, DME will handle them for you.

Thank you all for your replies, Last time i flew we didn't receive yellow tags and i'm assuming from what you guys are saying it was because we had the late flight into MCO. i believe we arrived at 11 pm. This time I'm there bright and early!! Thanks for your help!!

And on your check out day you can give your luggage to the folks at the RAC desk and they will take them to the airport for you. RAC desk closes by 1:00 p.m and you must give them your luggage at least 3 hours before your flight.

If you flew before the 10pm late arrival policy went into effect, then it shouldn't have made any difference. When DME first started it didn't matter what time you arrived...any tagged bag for picked up and handled. For whatever reason, your bags didn't have yellow tags, so they wouldn't have been picked up regardless of your arrival time.

Any bag, with a yellow DME tag on it, arriving between 5am and 10pm, will be grabbed and taken care of by DME. At least I think 5am is the start time.
