When we booked our rooms we were told that Southwest did not participate in Disney's Magic Express and that we would need to go and pick up our own luggage at the airport (MCO). We just called to make our DME reservations and were told that Southwest is participating and that they would transport our luggage to our room. Has the policy changed? Or are we going to be leaving our luggage in Neverland? :confused3 Assistance is greatly appreciated!

For your flight into Orlando, ALL airlines participate in DME. All you need is the yellow luggage tags. The only time you have to get your own luggage is if you are arriving after 10pm.

Only certain airlines participate in RAC, which is who takes your bags when you leave the resort. But even there SW has been added to some resorts. There is a good sticky on this board that explains everything pretty well.

Man, I really hate it when Disney booking CMs give out bad info. What happens to those poor folks who don't know about the DIS??? OH..I know..they're heading to baggage claim and getting their own bags and lugging them to the bus!
Every single person who arrives at MCO (be in on a plane, car or yak), who is on a Disney resort reservation..is entitled to ride the DME bus to and from the airport. All they have to do is reserve it ahead of time. It doesn't matter which airline they are coming in on...period.

Now, the really good news is that it would seem that SW is becoming a true participating airline at more and more resorts. This means that you will be able to check your bags at your resort, get your boarding passes issued and not have to worry about your checked bags until you get off the plane at your home airport. This is called RAC...resort (or remote) airline checkin. It's a great service...one which SW hasn't been able to be part of until very recently. Double check when you get to your resort to see if SW is indeed all set to go with RAC there.

You state that you just called to make your DME reservations, are we suppose to do that? We are going through a travel agency. I am confused about this..If so do you have a number for us to call, we are going July 26-August 6. Thanks for any help:confused3

If you are going through a TA, then most likely they have to make the reservation for you. Is your TA booking your airfare as well, or are you taking care of that?

Because you have used a TA to book your resort reservation, you will need to have them book your DME as well. In effect, they 'own' the reservation until you actually check in. Give the TA a call and have them add it. It's no big deal...should take them all of 8 mins to do.

As far as SW, we flew this past April and stayed at POP. We used the yellow tags and after we checked our bags at our departing air port we did not see them again till they arived in our room. We did have to take them with us on the way home, but the bus driver was gerat. He loaded our bags and then when we got to the air port he found a skycap for us.

Yes the TA booked our airlines as well, the TA suggested the DME we knew nothing about it. I am calling her this morning to make sure the reservation is made.
Thanks for the help...:cool1:
