Southwest Airfare hike!!!

UGHHH! I have been watching the southwest airline website for fares for Hou/Orl Dec. 3-10, they had round trip for 4 for 769.40. Well I didn't buy it hoping for a DING special (I've seen hou/orl roundtrip on DING for 520 for the 4 of us) just not for our date range yet.

Well this morning I checked southwest website and for the four of us is now 1209.00!!! I have never bought airfare before and I didn't realize they could have a 500.00 hike overnight!!!

Anyone have any suggestions for me? Do you think fares will go back down, do I have plenty of time to wait and watch fares or wait for a DING? I sure don't want to wait too long and have them go up even higher. I could just kick myself for not buying them already for the 769.00.

I know hwat you mean. I think the airfare went up becaue they had special runnign until August 4. Now everything is back up in price. I am sure they will have another sale coming soon. We have been waiting to book our flight for the end of October. Last year we waited until September and were able to get seats for my DH and I for $310 total. Once September hit prices dropped. I think this is due to the fact that the closer they get to the next month the fairs tend to drop. At least this is what I am hoping for! Good Luck!!! I check their website a few times a day, I am nuts!!! Everyting else is set and ready to go except for our flight.

Southwest changes their rates or has new specials every Tuesday. That is the day I get my e-mail message from them. I would just keep checking each week. They are bound to have another airfare special to Orlando before December. The best rate I found on their website for our trip in Nov is $155 one way. I'm definitely waiting!

I've found with any airline that as soon as you see a flight and/or fare you like, BUY IT!!! Once I made a phone call to a friend, only to come back to that flight and have the cheap flight gone (it wasn't SW)!!

At least when you book with SW, you have the option of changing your flight or fare without penalty. I fly mostly on SW and book the flight I want as soon as I see it. Then if the fare goes on sale, I rebook the flight and apply my ticketless funds to my next trip to Florida.
