Southwest Air ?

I know there was a post a few days ago about Southwest now allowing you to print out boarding passes online at 12:01 the day of departure.

I went on Southwest's website to check this out and saw that it said families with children under the age of 5 get to pre-board anyway. I've never flown Southwest before when I had my daughter with me (who is only 3), but we've flown US Air many times and I thought they only let you pre-board if your child was under 2.

Can anyone confirm for me that this is true that we will get to pre-board with a 3-year old? Sure would save me from having to get up at midnight!!

That is correct. Under 5 is pre board with Southwest.

When we flew out of BWI two weeks ago they said you could board early with children under 4 and on the return they said children under 5. I only noticed the difference becasue my DD turned 4 on the cruise.

Under 5 is Southwest's normal practice, however, we have been in situations where there are large numbers of preboards and they have lowered the age to under 4 and sometimes even under 3, but that happens very rarely. We fly Southwest exclusively at least 6 times a year, my DH flys twice a month so we are very aware of how it works. You should be fine for preboarding. Have a great time
