I went to apply for the 50,000 pt. gift card offer and saw that it was no longer available...just the 25,000 pt one. Does any one know if they repeat the offers again?

Wife got an e-mail for the 50K point offer on Thursday. It had an invitation code on it so don't know if It is now invite only or not.

yes, I know my mother got her card when they repeated the 50,000 pt deal-so it is possible that they will do it again. I paid the annual fee for her because she is not going to really use the card, but she can make reservations for flights in our names.

What is the fee? My email said $99 a year, but my friend thought hers was $69?

There is two different yearly amounts, one the fee is $69 the other is $99 They are the same card just the $69 you get less point the second year when you pay the fee than the $99 one

Thanks everyone...I guess I will just cross my fingers and wait to see if it is offered again.
:guilty:

Does any one know if they really do send out a 1099 form for the 50,000 bonus points??

A $69 annual fee gets you $50 worth of bonus miles, while $99 annual fee gets you $100 worth of bonus miles. The 50,000 point offer has a $99 fee. If you sign up with the 20,000 bonus miles and $100 gift card, you pay a $69 annual fee.

There is no 1099 involved with this offer. I read this on one thread and I'm not sure where the incorrect info came from. :confused3 I'm specifically referring to the 50,000 point offer without a gift card.

Hope this helps,
Heather

Can you use all 50,000 points or just enough for two rt tickets? The link indicates you get 50,000 points to be used for two rt tickets. 50,000 will buy more than 2.

50K points are in your account to be used however you like, combined with whatever other points you have. The advertising is just suggesting that you can get a minimum of 2 free flights, but for us it should pay for 2 RTs + 1 one way if the flight point cost is the same in 2012 as it was in 2011 ...

I received the 50,000 point offer and my annual fee (paid on my January statement, BTW) is $69.

Just signed up this month, and paying the $99 fee. Which is more reasonable anyways, since I usually twice a year to Texas. And 6,000 points is close to the amount of points it cost to get there (one way). It's nice that they give you something special for the high cost of the annual fee.

Does anyone know if this card is similar to the Disney Visa where both spouces can apply for the card with two different accounts and get 100,000 points?

Each spouse can be the primary cardholder on an account. So it is possible for each of you to apply for a card in your own name. You just have to have the income to qualify.

I have been wondering whether the bonus points are taxable as well. I just signed up for the offer a couple of days ago - so it won't impact me until April 2013, when taxes are due. I guess if we get a 1099 it means it is.

I did some research, and it looks like in general bonus points you earn definitely are not taxable.

However if you receive bonus points a gift for signing up, which are technically not earned, the value of the points may be taxable. I am thinking that the value might be around $800, based on the cost of the flights they would cover.

On another website it mentioned that if you have to do something before getting the points they count as earned. So maybe, since we had to make 1 purchase to receive the points, they aren't taxable? I tried to find the official info on the IRS website, but no luck!

After researching, I'm more confused then when I started. I guess I will wait and see if I get a 1099!
