I was so excited to see that this Tribute Band will make their debut at this year's Sounds Like Summer Concert Series!:)

Of course, being a huge Lynyrd Skynyrd/Southern Rock fan,I am going to plan an unscheduled trip for that week(as if I need an excuse to plan a trip to WDW!LOL:))!

Are there any other Southern Rock DISers out there?

I can't wait to hear the sounds of Free Bird flying high in Wordl Showcase!:)

That is sooooo awesome:thumbsup2 Your post just made my night. On the list of my all time favorite things is WDW of course, Bama football Roll tide! and Lynard Skynrd southern rock. And the last day they are there just happens to be the first day of our trip:cool1: So that solves the dilema of what park first.:goodvibes

Great!:)

The University of Alabama is having a huge year with the Football team winning the program's 14th National Championship and Sarah Patterson's wonderful Gymnastics Team winning the program's 6th National Championship Saturday!:)

Also,Lynyrd Skynyrd has a great history with the state of Alabama having recorded early in their career in Muscle Shoals and later paying tribute to the State in the classic "Sweet Home Alabama".:)

What a great way for you to begin your trip!:)

The WDW website and Steve Soares have the dates for SouthBound and Company as July 15-21 while Allears and The Mickey Monitor have the dates listed as July 18-21.:)

Does anyone know for sure which dates are correct? Thanks!:)

I don't but as long as the 21st is consistent then I am good:thumbsup2 That is our arrival day and I already got this on the must do list. Roll tide!

I checked while I was at WDW and Allears and The Mickey Monitor have the dates wrong.:)

There was a little preview Thursday night of what it is going to be like in World Showcase with the sounds of Lynyrd Skynyrd's music in the air when Off Kilter played "I Know A Little"!:)

I went to see them four of the nights they were there -- probably sat next to you. :rotfl:

Loved them a lot and plan to write Disney and request that they come back next year!!:thumbsup2

I made my family sit through two sets. I wanted my teenagers to hear some real music for once in their lives. Great shows! My 17-year-old son is now a convert (downloaded Free Bird on the bus back to the resort).

Awesome!:)

Who at Disney would be the best CM to write to requesting that they bring back SouthBound next Summer?

How did SouthBound's crowd size compare to the other SLS acts?Is crowd size the only factor Disney uses to determine whether to extend a return invitation?

Thanks!:)

Your son should read the history of Skynyrd if he hasn't.:)

He would probably enjoy reading how they got their name, etc.:)

They were truely one of the greatest American bands ever and were on their way to superstardom before the terrible day of October 20,1977.

RIP Free Birds

I don't have the name of anyone specific to write to. When I was there, I spoke to the stage managers and hope that they will pass the info on to the higher-ups. I will also write to the main WDW Guest Services email address.

The crowds were about the same as with other SLS bands -- but I think they may have been a little more enthusiastic. During the last set on Saturday night, the whole place was on their feeting rocking to Freebird.

For sure, if the America Gardens Theater had doors, then Southbound would have blown them off. Talented guys and I'd love to see them back.

The guy who books these groups is Brad Ross, and if I got it right from the stage managers his title is "Creative Talent Manager". The CMs we talked to felt that an email to him via the Guest Communications email we all use would likely get to him.

A note to Erin Young, VP of Epcot also wouldn't hurt. We do this every year and always get a phone call.

And a suggestion if you do write - mention how much you want to see this series come back. SLS is in its eighth year and I wouldn't be surprised if WDW is itching for something new.

One of the guys from Southbound just posted on his Facebook page that they have already been asked back for 2013!! :yay:

This is correct but I know of two groups in previous years that have been told the same thing and then never received the invitation to return.

It may be simply a matter of Disney being polite and not wanting a face to face confrontation. Or it might have been someone saying they would be asked back who wasn't authorized to say so.

That's why I think it's important to communicate with Disney - let them know you want SLS back and the groups you hope that they book.

Awesome!:)

They deserve to come back-they gave a very authentic look at Skynyrd.:)

The only thing I would have liked to have seen with them was the legendary Skynyrd "Triple Guitar Attack",BUT,they were still very authentic as Skynyrd did operate with only 2 guitars in the period after Ed King quit the Band and before Steve Gaines was hired.:)

I was very impressed when "The Honkettes" walked out with them the first night-I wasn't expecting that and that was a great "nod" to Skynyrd history.:)

Fly high SouthBound!:)

I thought I would give The Honkettes a little recognition.:)

They were awesome and the shows would NOT have been the same without them!:)

Ladies,you did Cassie,JoJo and Leslie's parts wonderfully!:)

(Hopefully somebody has a better picture!LOL:))
