Do SW prices ever go down. We booked a flight for a fairly cheap prices and now I want to go a day earlier but the fares are much higher. I don't think I can match the price but if I can get it a little longer I'm jumping on it. What are my chances?

I booked my Aug flight @ $64 and was hoping to change my return to a time later in the day. I am surprised that the flights have been staying so high. Normally they do go back down...I'm still hoping.

I was looking at August prices from MHT. THinking about going in August with the discounted rooms. Boy, was I surprised at the prices. Usually I pay 64 one way.

I purchased tickets for $69 in February. I'd like a later flight and have been checking Southwest fares a few times a day. Prices have been well over $100, sometimes more than $200 for any flights, including mine. I fly out today.

Glad I booked the flight when it was $69, it never went back down. Oh well, I got it cheap and most important...I'm going to Florida!

Have a magical trip!!!!

$64 from NY is quite good. I doubt you'll see any lower.

SW does play around with fares. For my August trip (from PHL), they opened at $99, went down to $89 (which I booked), then up to $118 and $138, now back to $100. I don't expect to rebook, but I'll keep checking, just in case.

Just a few years ago, I was able to book SW or AirTran for $49 (in the pre-pay almost as much for your luggage days). I think those days are gone, unfortunately.

Keep your eyes open, there might be some more movement for August in the next month or so.

With SW, it all depends on demand. If you are on a popular flight and it is near capacity, your price will not go down. But keep watching, you never know when SWA will run a sale and the flight you want to change to will go down in price.

I really want to go the day before. Do you think I should change, pay the $75.00 difference and watch for a lower fare and take the credit. How does the credit work. Will I have to travel within the next year and does the credit have to be used by the person listed on the ressie. Thanks, gina:)

Is it $75 each for the 6 people listed in your ticker? That would be alot of money...if that is the case I would wait a little longer. When you first booked the flights did you make each leg of the trip a seperate reservation? And yes, you have 1 year to use a credit ... from the date of the original booking.

No just me and my one daughter are making the trip down. We have a flight booked at 92.00. We are using another airline to fly home. Can anyone use the credit? If the flight we want is listed at 177.00, do you think it would go up, that would be bad. LOL The flight I want is a sunday and leading into the week before the forth holiday. Thanks for your post.

You can change your reservation online regardless if you have one leg or not. If you feel comfortable paying more to fly in a day early, then I would buy the ticket now before it goes up. If it goes down, you can take the credit. Anybody can use it. All they need is the confirmation the credit was given under and your last name.

The Sunday before a holiday could be tough. Maybe you should book it if that is really the flight you want. I know, it is so hard to know what to do. :confused3

I fly Southwest quite frequently. My experience is that if they are going to reduce the fares, they will do so on a Tuesday or Wednesday about 6-8 weeks before the flight. Check every day (you probably already are). If the flight is fairly booked, it is unlikely that the fares will go down.

Yes - you have one year to use the credit but realize that it is from the date you bought the tickets, so often times you only have 6 months after the trip date.

Good luck!

Well I bit the bullet. All the other fares for the day went up so I booked the one I wanted. The difference is 164 dollars for both tickets but that's ok i get an extra day at WDW. Now if it would only go down I can get credit. How does that work? Do you have to rebook?

Yes, you have to rebook. But its pretty easy. If (hopefully when) you see better rates for your flights, just go to the 'Travel Tools' drop down in the upper right at southwest.com, then pick 'Change Air Reservation'. You'll fill in your name and confirmation number, then have an opportunity to change your flights. Just pick the same flights again and your total will be recalculated. Since it'll be lower, you'll have some travel funds to use for future flights (from one year when you booked, not when you changed). Also, if you see lower rates on different flight times that work for you, you can switch to the different time as well.

Check the SWA prices on Tuesday, at 2pm central. They seem to go down at that time, then go back up on Fridays. Last week, they went down even more on Thursday (but I didn't notice that this week).

I'm trying to change my flight plans, too.
