South Korea locks down again...

Come to Miami. We have some that stay open 24 hours, so you don't have to move around (although they are currently closed and will remain so for a while).

ahh... I went to UM (almost 20 years ago, eek!!) and I can’t believe what my young self used to do lol!

This shows that all it takes is one idiot to ruin it for everyone. I'm all for opening everything but only if people can stick with the physical distancing and wear a mask when it's not possible.
After I read your post. I went back and read the article because I figured I missed some description of his behavior to see why he was an idiot. I’m not trying to put you down, just thought he must have done something dumb. Wasn’t there. So if he went to a club because it was open, or club hopped cause they were open. Are they requiring masks? Either way gonna assume he’s would not have been let in 5x if he wasn’t in compliance and now they have 1500 cases!? I’m trying to reconcile this with people who say they have no problem entering large crowds when things open up

There isn't 1,500 cases. It's 1,500 people he may have exposed. That's the contact tracing aspect where they are looking at video footage, credit card receipts, etc to try and identify and contact those who may have been exposed.

I thought it was in the article. I must have mistaken it from reading it on another board from a guy in Korea. He said they have to wear masks everywhere right now.

Ok I hear you. Still I find it disturbing, mainly because he was asymptomatic. But you are right. Exposures are not infections. My bad

No worries. I don’t think I expressed myself well. Was trying to say I don’t feel comfortable thinking about wading into large crowds right now and here’s a Reason why. Asymptomatic guy walks into a bar, follows all the rules and still causes a big problem. If I’m not mistaken you and I are on the same page there

asymptomatic guy walks into a bar...sounds like the start of a joke

I don't feel comfortable with large crowds yet either. Its too soon. I like that here in Canada they have cancelled almost all events that involve large gatherings. There is talk that our theme park isn't likely to open at all this year.

Imagine going to WDW.

Large gatherings is a problem with this virus.

The question you should be asking: how can WDW open June 1st if this virus spreads so easily?
We could easily be talking about Disney Springs or Citywalk here if they fully reopen in May as several predicted.

Guy walks into 5 bars.... except if this was springs or Citywalk he could then maybe go into a few retail stores as well... all of which could be full of people who refuse to wear masks. A few days later he has symptoms but there would be no way to trace anyone as USA isnt capable of full contact tracing and most people refuse to use the App.

That pretty much sums up my thought process. Well said.

And this is why we need consistent, informed, responsible, reliable leadership... because otherwise nobody knows what to believe, what restrictions are required/necessary/effective, etc.
LOCAL requirements vary greatly, whether or not they are necessary/effective. We are updated on a daily basis.

That an impressive feat for their contact tracers. I'd like to see that happen in my county.

I'm imagining the potential chaos when Vegas reopens.

wrt South Korea, I expect we'll see similar things happening across the globe. Things reopen, we get an occurence of COVID-19, and things will roll back, and then slowly roll back out. There's gonna be a lot of ebb and flow because there really isn't a one-size-fits-all answer to how we approach getting back to the "new normal".
