Thanks for all the recommendations. We're going to Disney's Hilton Head the week of August 3, 2018 - August 12, 2018 and need as many recommendations as possible. We might drive to visit Savanna for a day while there. We haven't done a "relaxing" vacation in years. I don't think we remember how to do them.

Several years ago we ate at a wonderful restaurant, Michael Angelo's. It is off the beaten path, strictly a locals place. If you go to Savannah get there very early and get a lunch ressie at the Lady and Son just to say you've been there. It is fun to see it. I also recommend a carriage tour.

You may want to check flight into Charlotte, NC. It's about 3-4 hours from Charleston and the coast. If you fly into Charlotte, you can spend a day at Carowinds Theme Park. It straddles the border of NC and SC and is big roller coaster heavy (if you like that). They will only be open weekends in Sept. Kings Mountain National Military Park is near as well. I'm sure you'll have a great time exploring the coast.
