I'm in phase I and am finding that some days the lunch items are too difficult to make ahead and take to work. For those days, I have been fixing a lunch item from another day. For instance on Day 3, I fixed the lunch from Day 4. Is that going to make a difference?

In reading the book, it sounds like it shouldn't make a difference because it's more of the way you choose your foods. But, before I get further into this I thought I'd ask some of those that have been on the diet awhile.

Also, we're going to WDW next month. We're planning to eat breakfast in the room. Before the diet, we were planning the usual...muffins, cereal, breakfast bars, fruit. Do you have ideas on what we could eat in the room on the diet?

Thanks everyone!!!!

well, I am just starting day one of phase 2 tomorrow, so I am not much of an expert, but I really didn't follow the menus at all. I ate what I was allowed, but didn't follow the menus they had, I just thought that the menus were there to give you ideas, so I don't think that switching the lunch menus will make that big of a deal.

As far as eating breakfast in the room, my suggestions would only work if you brought a cooler and kept if full of ice, but cottage cheese and hard boiled eggs would be fairly easy.

It does not make a difference. You do not have to follow the menus verbatim to make this WoE work. That is the reason Dr Agatston put the "Foods to Enjoy, Foods to Avoid" lists in the book for phases 1 and 2. Not everyone enjoys the items on the menu, so, using the cited lists, you can make up your own and STILL lose weight.

As for breakfasts in your room: It doesn't have to be breakfast food. By then you should be in phase 2, which allows the following at breakfast:

Protein: no limits
Veggies: minimum 1/2 cup
Fruit: 1 serving allowed daily (gradually increase to 3 servings for the day)
Starch: 1 starch serving allowed daily (try to keep it high fiber)
Dairy/Milk: 2 cups allowed daily - including yogurt

All the above is from southbeachdiet.com

Good Luck and Welcome Aboard.

To give you an idea of what I ate on Phase 1 for lunch you can check out my journal. I remember eating a grilled sirlion burger (made the night before) and a salad. I also ate tomato stuffed tuna a lot and made the tuna the night before, tossed my big tomato in my bag and cut the insides out at work. It was fairly simple. As it was mentioned before, you don't have to follow the menus at all. That's what's so wonderful about this program.

Jerry mentioned the allowed foods for phase 2 and I'm sure that will help you. You could possibly bring a box of whole wheat flakes cereal from home and buy milk in the gift shop. We plan to hit the breakfast buffets late in the day or grab something from the 24 hour place (egg, meat and cheese sandwich, minus the bun).

Anyway, I wish you success on SBD and I applaud you for planning in advance to stay on program while on vacation. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. Someone will answer your question.

Keep up the great work!
