South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Hi everyone... I am new here! I am trying SBD and am starting day 3 of Phase I.

I don't have the book yet, waiting for it from the library, so I am trying to find info on the internet on what food is ok/not ok.

I am struggling with the no sweets.. I LOVE THEM!! In P1 is sugar-free jello ok? I didn't know b/c it is a fruit flavor?? Can you have the sugar-free fudgesicles in P1???
I am trying not to have to rely on them, but I want to make sure that I am not doing something that I am not supposed to do.
I haven't had any fudgsicles, but did have a jello yesterday.

I am doing better than I thought I would be. But it is a drag making 6 different meals. One for me, and then one for the kids. But I am having a good time with some different types of food and combos.

Can you use butter/margarine in your cooking during P1??

AHH... I have so many questions that they keep popping in my head!

Well it need to get up from this chair and get a workout in while everyone else is sleeping. I look forward to chatting with my fellow SBD's and learning new stuff.
 
Hi Elizabeth! Congrats on starting SB and getting healthier!!

You can have sugar-free Jell-o on Phase 1 and no sugar added fudgesicles (sp?)!!! Aren't you excited??

For butter/margarine, you need to use something that doesn't have any trans fat like Smart Balance or I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. I use the I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray.

Lisa & Sheree, great news!! I'm FINALLY off of my plateau!!! I have lost 1.5 lbs this week so far. I owe it all to Oprah's Boot Camp. :flower:
 
Sheila: Ohhh.. I am excited!!! I am going to have to go buy some.. but also restrain myself. At least now when the kids are having dessert in the evening I have something that I can have with them.

Does anyone know a good site where you can find a grocery list/menu for SBD?

I am trying to figure out what type of meals to have, and what type of foods to buy. I would have never guessed that I should us the smart balance or ICBINB. Just another thing to add to my list.

This morning was a non cooking morning (we do one day hot, one day cold) so I had a hard time figuring out what to eat. I couldn't figure out a good cold P1 meal. I guess I am just going to have to make a big breakfast for all 6 of us each day. :(

I also use the I Can't believe it's not butter spray and enjoy my sugar free jello .....just picked up some sugar free fudgsicles to try !
 
Elizabeth, welcome. Those products are good for you to use, just like you said though, don't become dependent on them. You will love life on the beach. It gets easier as you go along. Keep coming back, we'd love to hear your progress!!!!

Hey all. Almost through my first week of Phase 2 (or 1 1/2 as I am watching the carbs). I still have not had any whole grain, unless it was unintentional and I didn't know it. I have loved my berries!! I find I am so full lately I have to force myself to eat. I tend to do a hot breakfast of eggs still, no cereal yet. I just got into a size 5 jeans yesterday!!!! I have one pair of capri jeans that when I fit into them, I know I have reached my goal. I think they are like a 3/4. Anyway, my jeans are all loose, I have obviously lost inches. However, because of work my workouts have been nonexistent. Need to step it up with Pilates again. Otherwise, I will weigh in tomorrow and hopefully I lost a pound or two. I know it goes slower in Phase 2, so I will measure myself as well.

Melissa, how wondrful for you. Size 5, I remember when I hit that mark and almost fainted!!!!! Posting our receipes sounds like a wonderful idea. Maybe they'll let us do that also on the receipe section of wish.

Hi everyone! I measured on Saturday and I lost .25 inch in my waist and 1.5 inches in my abs last week! How sweet is that??? :banana:
 
Hi all. Things have been going well here. I went out of town over the weekend and stayed on plan fairly well. Went to a basketball game at my old college. I graduated 11 years ago with my masters. I am currently wearing the suit I bought for interviews 11 years ago. It had been sitting in my closet for over 8 years when I couldn't wear it. I am almost into the suit I bought when I received my Bachelars 13 years ago.

:cheer2: Congrats to all on the weight loss. I have no idea if I lost as my scale broke. So instead of rushing out to buy a new one, I have decided to go without weighing in for a couple weeks. This is torture for me but I become very dependant on that scale and this seemed a good way to wean myself off. So, now I have to be really good so when I do weigh in I will get a nice surprise.
:banana: I intend to excercise every morning and every night. I am imposing some of Oprah's boot camp stuff into my program, like lots of water and no whole grains or eating later than 3 hrs before bed. Its bound to help.

Melissa: Don't be shocked one way or another when you get a new scale. All scales seem to be a little different. Mine weighs about 3 lbs lighter than my brother. They are both digital self calibrating scales. Don't know why they are different. He uses his number, I use my number.
