South Beach Dieters......... Unite

WOw!
What a thread!

I tried to read all of it, but at page 50 I gave up, I'll try again later.

I started SB on 1/1 and as of today have lost 4.5 pounds. I have gotten some great ideas and advice from pages 1-50!

Welcome aboard, Carol. Now that you are in day 7 of the SBD you are probably finding that it is easier than you thought it was going to be. :) 4.5 pounds is great progress. Keep up the good work, and don't be a stranger around here.

My progress was great...until Fall started then I started baking as I do every Autumn. *Sigh* I have gained nearly all back I had lost since Feburary 10th of last year. So I have just restarted on Monday and am going through the sugar/carb withdrawal again. I am frustrated but now have a very clear understanding that I CANNOT eat anything I would like to!! :charac2:

What I am choosing to focus on now is how healthy I feel and happy I am when I am not carrying around 20 extra lbs! I do not have a fabulous vacation this time to use as an incentive but the commitment to a stronger, slimmer, more confident ME! :cloud9:

I wish everyone here a wonderful year of getting healthy and achieving their goals...whatever they may be. :cheer2:

Countdown to our 15th Anniversary Trip!

Carol, welcome. We are a very supportive group here. Most of us have fallen at one point of time, and find the strength to pick back up an continue on. I'm glad to hear that you've already dropped 4 pounds!!!! That's fantastic. Keep up the good work, it just gets easier if you stick to it.

Hi, Jerry!

Famfab5, you can do it!! Those carb withdrawel symptoms are hard to deal with. I get them even when I haven't had lots of carbs and slowing my self down. Hang in there

Hello everyone ! I have been reading up on the SBD and plan on starting soon. My doctor recommended that I try it. I'm glad I found this thread for ideas and support ! Like Carol I've read some but not all of thread and found out some good information ! I'll check back in soon !

Sandy

Sandy, welcome. It is a wonderfull Way of life. I've never looked nor felt better than I do on the beach.

Well I'm all set to start tomorrow after some last minute sinning today !!!
I finished up some orange flavored rice from a pork dish I made yesterday and I'm going to a friend's tonight for dinner and I think we're having pasta :scared1:

I went shopping today to get started w/ SBD....got some string cheese and peanuts for snacks, frozen veggies (I love most veggies anyway so that part will be easy) and I bought some V8 juice ....don't think I've ever tried it before but I figured I'd give it a shot.....so I'm ready to roll ! The hardest part is that I travel for work and will be eating out for 2 nights..... I'll bring my own snacks and salad dressing so I'll be all set for during the day, I'll just have to be very careful for the evening meal !

I need to get back into the exercise groove too....

Sandy

Well good luck Sandy during phase I! I'm at my half way mark today for Phase I. The first 2 or 3 days are the hardest but after that you don't miss the bread or feel ill. Before the SBD I was the bread queen at my house now it just doesn't even look good to me. Good luck can't wait to hear about your weight losses!! :flower:

Thanks WB ...congrats on your 5 lbs lost so far !

Howdy ho, fellow Beachers!! I'm just back from a week's vacation with my family, and all I can say is -- There's no place like home. (Well, except for WDW, of course.) :earboy2:

Welcome, everyone who has just started!! It's exciting to see new (cyber)faces around here -- let us know about every pound that melts off!!

My own goal for this year is to lose 5 pounds in January, then a further 5 pounds before my trip to WDW at the beginning of April with my best friend, mostly through adding exercise to my daily routine. I tried out a Pilates DVD last week that was mostly doable, and occasionally left me wondering if they were slipping in bits of trick photography.

After that, I'll review and re-goal!

:sunny:

Sandy, it will be easy. Like Wbgirl says, after the first 3 days, it gets easy. Even though I'm maintaining, bread and pasta still don't look good to me. I've learned how to eat healthy breads, and the other stuff doesn't even look good to me anymore. Good luck everyone and have a wonderful week

I just wanted to say that it occurred to me that my birthday in the middle of May makes a convenient date to focus on. So I've made a goal for myself. I don't want to give away too much personal information, like my age for example, but I call it -- Lookin' Fine by 39!

I still want to lose 5 pounds in January, then 5 by my WDW trip, and then the rest by my birthday. So, let's see how it goes!

Good luck on that thotfulspot. Small goals are always the easiest to accomplish

Hi all ....I'm in day 3 of Phase 1 and doing pretty good so far.....

I have a question... I thought all fruit was forbidden but a friend of mine said I could flavor things w/ lemon and lime juice .... does anyone know the scoop on this?? Thanks !

What about avocado (and guacamole) ..... I'm on the road and silly me left the book at home.... What was I thinking ? I guess I wasn't! :D

I'm back again. The bad news is that I was not on plan for most of December, but I still held steady on my weight loss, and did not gain any weight over the holidays. Still 30 pounds lost. I'm AMAZED at that.

Started Phase I again on January 1, and am down 3lbs so far. I am 7 lbs away from my goal, which was 40 lbs by my birthday in February. I can see the light.

Hope everyone is doing well. I see that Lisa and Sheree are still here encouraging everyone.

Can't wait to start Phase II on Saturday. I am missing my oatmeal and fruit.

Hello

My name is Kerri and I started the SB on Monday, so this is the end of day 3. Today was much better than yesterday ... I had a bad headache :headache: I've lost 3 lbs so far and am feeling good right now. My dh is on day 9 and he too is doing very well and at last count he had lost 6 lbs (around day 7). I found it tough for him the first week as it was tough figuring out what he could eat. Once I made the decision to do it too, it was better as we are now preparing for both of us. I made a delicious pot of chili from the SBD board and it was sooooo good!! I have been searching for good recipes and now that I feel like I have a few I feel better and don't feel as deprived!

Today I was home with both girls and I find it hard sometimes as I am making them things like peanut butter sandwiches or snacks (those clementines look soooooo good!). I was pretty good, but I admit I did have a bit of tomato soup at lunch as we had such a cold yucky day of freezing rain. (about a 1/2 cups worth). I need to make some soups to have on hand that are ok.

Well ... I should go ... I tried to read some of the pages, but just can't do all 70 of them!!! I'm excited to find this spot!

Kerri :flower1:

Kerri, welcome. I'm glad that you have found us. We have all had success on the plan and are loving it. I hope that you come back and keep checking in with us. Congratulations on the weight loss so far. It is a wonderful plan to be on. The headache's should be gone for good now, and you should continue on cruising losing the weight!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi All

It's been a while since I posted on this thread. We've had an interesting time here since the first of the year. A week ago we got 15 inches of water in the basement of our house where my room is at. Fortunately my computer is in the air so it was fine. I'm just living upstairs while the mess is being cleaned.

Whith everything going on for the holidays I didn't gain any weight between Christmas and New Years (Actually lost 2 lbs) but have only lost 1/2 a lb since the New year and that showed up this morning. I am going to try switching some things around in my diet and see if I can start losing again. I had gotten some low carb candy after christmas when it was on clearance and have been eating it. I found I was eating more of it than I was the real stuff. I've put it up high in the cupboard so I not tempted to eat it all the time. I am also going to try to eat a more substancial breakfast in the mornings.

Kerri - Welcome to the Beach. The first few days can be rough. Hopefully you've made it past the worst of it.

SPB999- Welcome, In answer to one of your questions. It appears lemon juice might be able to be used as a seasoning. While it is not on the list of foods to enjoy, several of the phase 1 recipies have lemon juice as one of the ingredients. I would limit it to maybe 1/2 a lemon or less in the whole recipe.

Leanne- Congratulations of maintaining through the holidays. You must have been doing something right to not gain weight over the holiday.

Jeremy, nice to hear from you again. Sorry to hear about the basement!!! I am glad to hear though that you didn't gain anything because of the holidays or stress. I knnow what you mean about the candy though. I just had some russel stovers candy my DH brought me for Christmas. I'm afraid I'm feeling it right now though!!! Can't eat anymore of that. Anyways, welcome back!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone. Once again, it's been too long since I've stopped in on this thread. I'm having really hard time getting back on track. I make it only 1 or 2 days and then I cave and end up eating horribly. I'm not sure what I can do. I'm really bummed. I know this way of eating works but I can't seem to stick with it. *sigh* I'm going to spend some time reading this thread over and reading the journals. Hopefully that will get me inspired. Thanks everyone for being here and letting us "once in a while-ers" pop in and vent.
